I am planning to go paintballing soon, but I'm just curious since nobody I know has a chronograph, how I will be able to determine if the balls are going at a safe speed? Are there any special technics I would need to know?

If you can't see the balls as you shoot them out of your barrel, then your shooting at a high rate of FPS (feet per second) also known as "shooting hot". Thats basically how my friends and I do it when we play outlaw ball, asside from when we have the oppertunity chrono it at our local field. :)

Just take your gun to your local field your going to play at and chrono it there.

buy your own chrono.... i think chronos are a must... they are only like 80 bucks for a radarchron at www.paintballgarage.com
or the VLocity, wich i heard really bites)

I play backyard paint also... I do not have a local field. 80 bucks might sound like alot... but how much is your vision worth to you?

What you might be able to do is... Get a few friends together, and split the cost. (the only problem i saw about that is... who would hold it?)

I play with some mean fellas that put their velocity really high, it cracked my vl 12v revy, wich is worth 60 bucks.... so, if I had the chrono sooner. It would have been like only 20 bucks more... and it would keep me safe for as long as it lives (and my fellow players arnt cheating)
