View Full Version : The 10 Second Game

My team(Outlawz) and I were playing in our first tournament. We were already had a big lead in points, but we were still lacking "the" game of the tourney. Every game so far had lasted at least 10 minutes, even the ones on the speedball course.
Then, our back-up player, Ryan, came up with a plan. We would take the other team by surprise. On the break, two of us, Adam and I, would sprint up directly to the flag, grab it, duck, and run back to our own station(where the flag had to be returned to).
Meanwhile, our the rest of the team would be practicing their rate of fire on semi-auto from the back of the field, firing over our heads at the opponents(one of our players, Zack, actually used up 300 rounds doing this.... on a TL Plus)
We soon realized a problem though. Even though their were two targets for them to split their fire on, we were still easy targets. So, the other flag carrier and I would run in installments, five seconds apart.
This worked wonderfully. Adam, the other front player, ran first and performed a perfect example of quick thinking: too much fire was focused on him, so he ran to the bunker closest to the flag on his side and started raining down paint, too. I continued the run, grabbed the flag, and ran back to our station and hung it. We got three of their players out as well.
We ended up doing this about four times. The other teams started to catch on, of course, but they still couldn't really combat it. They all froze when they saw the air thick with paint.
We plan to use this play(modded, obviously) in the future. We realize it was part luck, but the memories are great. A ten second game is like a dream come true.

(Note: I'm pretty sure this is what most teams do already. Please do not flame me for it. I just wanted to tell about the games.)

awsome, i once did something like that playing woods ball. we had the guys with tippmnn a-5's(with e-frames and rt's) and tippmann 98 customs(with rt's) rain paint on the other teams flag station and surrounding bunkers while me and two other guys ran up, bunkered four people in the flag station, took the flag and sprinted back to our station and won the game. it was cool:cool:

Wow. Nice set-up. More proof that spray-and-pray does something.

So you have to get the flag, and bring it back to your own flag station? What the hell is that :eyes:

I don't know if you've ever played a tourney, or a real game of paintball. But centerflag usually goes about you getting the flag and bringing it to the oponents flag station.

I assume they were playing centerflag, because if the plan is to run to the oposing flag station off the break, your just asking to get shot.

yea, that wouldn't be such a good idea.... running to the other team's station.

ouch, that hurts just thinking about it.:(

the point is to bring the flag from their base and put it on your base. that is why it is capture the falg. not center flag. not assult. capture the flag. ussually in speedball tourneys i think there is a time limit that each team has to get the flag. ussually i see teams eliminating the other team before going for the flag so they don't take the unnecessary risk of getting shot. it might have something to do with the scoring. i don't know, someone who has played in a tourney help me out with the scoring.

I have played paintball for nearly a year and a half. This was my first tournament, and the first time I've played capture the flag like this. We played a modded center-flag game, during which we had to return it to our own base.
The field was smaller than most(it's currently being enlarged) so the I guess the ref asked us to play like this so we would not be shooting each other from too close up unless bunkering. I am not sure exactly why he told us to play like this. Thank you.

Yeah, thats pretty stupid, his reason is for less bunkering? If its a tourney then there should be more bunkering, more exciting games. And if bunkering is ok, but not shooting up close.... whats the difference really.
