Ok here's my dilemma...

I have almost got my Spyder converted to LP (waiting on the reg to get here) and I want a new barrel. I currently have an SP All American. The All American is an awesome barrel-- it's just too long (16"). I bought it when I first got my marker and made the rookie mistake of thinking 'longer is better'. Anyway, I want a much shorter barrel and was thinking of going with a 10" CP. However, since I'm so turned-off by my 16" AA, I don't want to go too far in the opposite extreme and get a barrel that's too short. There doesn't seem to be tons of barrels for Spyders that are less than 12". Is there a reason for this? Do Spyders need a slightly longer barrel? Also, would there be a huge difference in accuracy between a 12" CP barrel and a 10" CP barrel?

Thanks in advance!

Depends If you play speedball alot then get a 10" barrel, but if You play in a large wooded area, then get a 12". They're shouldnt be much of a difference. Also usually the more tighter the bore and less porting there is the better for lp setups. If you want a better lp setup, which would make a small difference...Get a Lapco Bigshot/Autospirit or a AKA javelin. What regulator did you order?

12" and beyond have the same amount of porting, so i would say either a 10" or 12".. but the 14"/16" will not be any quieter cause it has the same amount of porting ... it will just add length that will get in the way

Thanks for the reply. I play both speedball and woods fields. I really like them both. As for the reg, I got the Pure Energy for no other reason than price (I got it for $30 brand new on Ebay). So you think that a 12" barrel would probably be a good choice? Would the Custom Products barrel be a bad idea for a LP Spyder?

nah the CP barrel is a great choice.

What other accessories do you have on your low pressure setup?

Here's my LP setup:

AKA Lightning Bolt
32* Magna Port valve
32* Spring kit (light valve and main spring)
Pure Energy Regulator
Taso low pressure chamber
Bottom line to remote

Additionally, I've got a Diamond Labs Beavertail/rearcocker and have covered the striker slot with the standard AKA slot cover. I'm working on getting a 45 grip frame.

I've had almost as much fun tweaking my marker as I've had playing. I like owning a marker that I'm not scared to take apart. Anyway, I'm pretty stoked about finally converting to LP.

Cheers!

Nice, You might want to consider switching to nitrogen or just getting your co2 tank antisyphoned if you havent already.

I think co2 is fine on spyders, but he's right, antisyphon would be very smart to invest in.

I think you shouild get a 12" CP since you play both woods and speedball. It is an ideal length for the two.

I have a 12" CP barrel and it works awesome on my LP set up. When looking for an LP barrel make sure the first 6-8" are NOT PORTED. Check out my sig for my set up.

you should definently get anti-shiphon for your co2 tank or else you will have a lot of velocity spikes from your reg.
