Vote! (Speedball = airball, hyperball, etc. ;Woodsball = scenarios, capture the flag, etc.)

I myself am a speedball/hyperball/airball player who HATES woodsball with a passion. Waaaayyyy to slow/boring for me.

It has nothing to do with that. In fact, I usually beat my friends. Paintball is supposed to be fast-paced, action, action, action.

Woodsball = 45 minutes of hide-and-go-seek; 15 minutes of shooting

You just need to lean how to play woodball then last time I went had a few games last like 10 minutes all I did was sneak behind them and shoot them all out LOL

Yeah, paintball has been using speedball and sup airball fields ever since the beginning days of the sport. Sorry, but paintball has always been more woodsball than other and is still that way. You must not have been playing woodsball at all because it's just as fast paced. The longest woodsball game I've ever played is 25 minutes. The usual is 15 minutes.

I like both, but since I like to build woodsball fields, I am going to vote woods. Both are extreme fun though, but on different levels.

Well, it's not really supposed to be fast paced action, but if you like it better that way it's fine.

If you do play in an area of several acres of woods, of course it's going to be slow! Set smaller boundries.

I love speedball and hyperball, but a good woodsball game does the soul good.

I hate scenario games. With a passion? maybe.

Speedball pwnz0r3z, my friend.

Then again, I've never had the oppurtunity to play woods ball, so my opinion is mildly biased. Maybe I should go out in the boonies sometime to play woods, so then my vote would be a little more fair.

I really want to go to a huge senario though.. that'd be awesome... .

Your loss. BTW Have you ever played a scenario game?

Anyways I play both. I tend to like fields that have a little bit of both. I don't like the dense woods just mild with good bunkers tossed in for good measure.

If it goes on for too long, people usually start up a quick speedball game (the people usually go far back into the woods if the game's still going), because our outlaw is part speedball field and the rest is woodsball.

I like woodsball, but I want to get into speedball so I can get better faster and to start getting into tournaments. Don't know if that'd be anytime soon though, since my parents are cheap and I'm not allowed to get a job. :|

Could a mod add the option of "Both" in the poll since we seem to have a few people on here who go for both?

I play more woodsball than speedball, but I still say speedball. I think it's better how the bunkers are mirrored, so no side has an advantage like in the woodsball games I play. Oh yeah...how do you guys drag out your woodsball games that long? Mine only last about 5-10 minutes, and speedball takes about 2-5.

SpeedBall= Airball this is my fav. The reason I dont like woodball to much is because there isnt alot of action all at the beginning but in speedball there is. Not that there is anthing worng with woodball I will still play in on acation...:D

Woodsball is true paintball spirit. Its like hunting people instead of defenseless animals and you have to rely on instinct as well.I do admit,it kinda sucks having to treck around in the woods for a long time to find somebody, but when you do,its worth every second of it.

LAMANTEthePBguy
10-15-2003, 02:21 PM
the sport wouldnt be the same without either one.

woods- i love playing long games. not long and boring games but long fast paced games. Your opinion of woodsbal will really be determined by who you play with, and the feild you play on. I have played on sucky woodsball courses, and i can see how people would hate woods b/c of that.

Speedball- Its a huge change in style what can you say, its a lot of fun, unless your a hardcore rambo paintballer.

i like to play both, becuase if one starts to get repetitive, then you can just go to another. And woods is cheaper.

When I started, we played woodsball a lot.

Now that I go to a field, and I didn't think I would like speed/ hyper/ air but after my first game I was hooked on hyperball.

So, I play both woods and speed, and I'd love to go to a scenario game.

All I ever play is Airball and Hyperball, and rarely do I ever play woods. Practice all the time! I hate tromping about in the woods, getting bitten by misquitoes the size of kaizer rolls. But, if I do find a really well built woods field, its fun to play. As long as im not crawling through a swamp.
Mostly, its Airball all the way.
Getting in the snake = great fun!

I'm to impatient to play woodsball.....I haven't even played a game of woodsball in like forever.....but paintball ROCKS no matter where you play..(within reason) .....but whatever floats your boat..right...:D

2 years ago I was crawling through grass trying, in vain, to go over to where my opponent was. We traded long distance shots and then after 1 long hour I made it close enough to try and take a few shots I jumped up ready to dutty him but then he yelled I am out of paint!!! Right then and there I promised myself I would never play another game of woodsball; it has been an easy promise to keep. Nothing like airball and hearing the paint smack against your bunker and then bunkering foos, even hyperball is sweet, anything but woods. Tournies=the best and in a year or two I hope to get in some NPPL or PSP action. Honestly I haven't the slighest inclination to play there ever again.

I like booth.

I like the difficulty of woods when it come to finding cover (lol, hiding behind 3" wide trees) and I like the fast paced action of speedball.

Speedball is much easier for sure >:-)

Hyperball/Airball/speedball is an instant firefight and I love firefights. Woodsball I have to search for an intense firefight.

Sometimes it takes a long time looking for those nutcases that hide inside those bushes. I just get too impatient sometimes if there is too much dead ground. The campers in woodsball are more dangerous than speedball. I remember last time I played woodsball in total wilderness. There was too much everglades grass so I just sat thier waiting to hear some movement so I could move toward it. It wasn't like I was playing paintball. I was just looking at the trees and the lake and zoning out. Finally I ran into the middle of the grass and posted myself up against a tree and yelled out, "Rice crispies are tasty treats, why don't you move around so I can HEAR YOU! I don't hear any rice crispies. Come out now you cowards!" I immediately took some fire and proceeded to eliminate the last guy. The other game I did the same thing, only I was more out in the open. I fired into the sky and circled around unloading 50 rounds in various places saying, "My paint is deadly, watch out! Are you guys afraid to fight or something." Immediately this guy runs out of the treeline and I jus light him up to end the game.

Woodsball is more fun when there is less foilage for people to hide in and more bunkers to use. That last woodsball field was just crud.

one of the places i go to is set in a forest of eucalyptus trees (no, not in australia) so 2 of their fields are all trees w/ a bunch of plywood, pallet & random scrap wood bunkers.

would that be considered woodsball? if not, then i've only played speedball but i won't turn down any chance to play, regardless of the environment (provided it was safe & legal to play there).

Six Feet Under

I prefer Airball over woods, but either one is fine as long as the games are intense, otherwise it's just plain boring. The fun part of speedball\airball is there are so many paintballs in the air at one time you really have to be careful and think about what you're doing. When I went to the World Cup in Orlando this year, they had already taken down the nets around the Dye field and my stepbrother and I walked the fields as you would before playing a game. Too bad we couldn't play 1 vs. 1 because that seemed like a lot of fun. There were actually two kids playing one-on-one with their Impulses they had just bought on one field that no one was using, and they even had a referee to watch the games! Some of their family was watching too... Wish I had an airball field in my backyard haha!

My opinions on the advantages

Speedball- Makes you learn to keep your head down and stay tight when you shoot because of all the paint in the air. Another advantage is you know where the other team's flag is (providing you're not playing Xball, then it's THE flag) and you have to know how to get there and not get shot in the process. In woodsball, you just make random moves and some sides can have more vantage points than the other team; this can be good or bad depending on what team and side of the field you're on.

Woodsball- Slower-paced games and can use military-like tactics if you are into that kind of thing. Woods can be better for the older players, but old habits die hard (Even my 44 year old father said he liked speedball at Wayne's World in Ocala better than the Village field or any woodsball field we had played that day) and old people just don't give up. You want an example of that? Bob Long. 'Nuff said.

11-25-2003, 02:04 PM
Patience young grasshoppers. Though woodsball may take longer for action you impliment a lot of large scale tactics for a small scale fire team. With speedball its simply just advancing on bunkers until one team has no one left. Woodsball is about concealment, stealth, and tactics.

Woodsball all the way.

Ballin'King
11-25-2003, 02:26 PM
Im pretty much equal on both of them. In woodsball tho, it depends on how big of area you play in. I think that the bigger the area, the less fun. there just not enough action

LAMANTEthePBguy
11-25-2003, 03:10 PM
i dont mind woods, but its those games where you spend 3-40 min looking for the other team, they realy waste your day. I mean 1-15 min of stalking isnt bad, but somtimes it gets too much. In speedball, youre gaurenteed action all the time.

i like both, in woodsball you learn and in speedball you show it off, and to people that say woodsball is boring our games
do start out slow but they usually end up ten feet away from each other and then sum1 gets bunkered (im usually the one that bunkers
and one time I went through ova 1500 paintballs in 30 min
