Ok, I'm planning on getting a J&J 2 piece barrel (unfortunately 16") but I was wondering if it is worth the extra $20 to just get the boomstick. Tell me what you think.

yeah, get the boomer instead, 16" is too long.
or get a lapco bigshot ss, i prefer it over the boomer.

I don't think they make that for the impulse, but I could be wrong. Thx.

oh, i see. yeah the bigshots that they made for the impulses are messed up so DO NOT buy a bigshot for your impulse yet.
i really didnt like the j&j 2 piece. it was really too long, and i dunno, it just wasn't as accurate as the boomer that my friend had. so yeah, go for the boomer. or you could just get a dye ultralite.

what would you suggest? I plan to get a 14", and the barrel has to be available for an impulse.

14" is too long for an impulse, imps are really small compact markers, i would get nothing over 12"

i am not sure what is avaliable for the impulse
but i would suggest a 12" freak if you have the cash

if I had the cash, I wouldn't think about getting another barrel. :P You really think 14" would be too long? I am using the stock 12" now, and I feel that I am getting no range with it. the 14" should give me better range, which I would prefer.

14 isnt that bad but 12 is great
but i cant think of what barrel you should get maybe an all american but i think that is what comes stokc on impulses am i right?
orryn: the longer barrel = longer range is just a myth. generally a paintball only accelerates along the first 6 inches of barrel, anything longer would slow it down. I would not buy anything longer then 12 inches.
if you dont think your balls are dropping short, check the paint to barrel fit and make sure your gun is properly chronied.
it doesnt matter what gun you have as long as it has a good paint to barrel fit and is shooting at the same speed, the paint will travel the same distance.

a longer barrel will not give you better "range" your gun will always have the same range as long as it has the same velocity. if i were you i would just keep the stock barrel until the big shots come out (best barrel IMHO)

No, it has a 12" progessive barrel = crappy
Also, the barrel is very big, premiums roll down it, that is why I want to get a new barrel. Also the accuracy bites. Balls hook left and right all the time.

If you match the Progressive right, accuracy should be great. The Boomer is medium-small and should fit most paint fine.

true, but most paint is either small or medium, very few are large. And the ones that are large are generally bad quality or cost more than I wish to pay. Thx though. :)

they just came out with bigshots for the imp, but they are threaded for the pre-release imps, which have different threads that regular imps. unfortuneatly, sales weren't as good as expected so lapco might scrap all production of lapco threaded barrels :(
