View Full Version : compressed air and air compressors
i have a friend with one of those garage air compressors (about 15 gallons, up to around 2000psi?). if i get the right fitting for the hose on the compressor, would i be able to fill my nitro/compressed air tank? or must the air that goes into my tank be clean and dry and free of all particles that could damage my tank and gun?

i might but i doubt it. wow a 2000psi compresser thats pretty high.
i take that back. its a 200psi compressor, i guess meaning it would take quite a few refills of the compressor to fill the tank.

thats quite dangerous considering many people have tried and died. hey that rhymes. dont try it.

people have died doing that?
what about people who are trained to use that compressor? would they be able to do it with the right fittings?

Care to give us some links? Tell us how they died? I don't see any way someone could die from putting 200 PSI into a 3000 PSI tank.

it wouldn't work, the compressor is just not putting out enough psi to fill the tank. In the long run it would just add a hassle to your life, might as well not even try to.

If it puts out 6+ CFM, you can get a WGP Megabooster to fill your tanks...

You have no freaking idea what you are talking about.
No, yur tank won't blow up...but there won't nearly be enough pressure.

It will work. You will be able to fill 200psi. That's it.

*sign* Stupidity runs rampart in today's society. An HPA tank is filled by PSI, not by the tank's volume. So I don't care if you have 15 gallons/sec of air, it's only 200 PSI, and 200 PSI isn't going to do anything to your tank, except fill it up to 200 PSI.

tanks dont blow up either. they just unravel or leak GOT BURST DISK...?

How bout we get somone to do it.... then... they can tell us how it went.... if they will take the risk.. and have a compressor... then tell us if it went ok or if the burst disk breaks...

Look, a 200 PSI compressor puts out 200 PSI. Period. You could leave it on all day, and noting would happen to the tank, simply because the compressor can't fill it over 200 PSI. The burst disk wouldn't blow, because most burst disks are what, 5200 PSI (They hydro test them higher)? The compressor would just stop, or overheat. There is absolutely NO way to blow yourself up filling a tank off a 200 PSI compressor.

I know a field that uses a compressor to fill tanks..(panther paintball) It only fills to 3000 though.
200PSI in a 3000PSI tank isn't going to do anything except nothing. DO you guys not understand that a 200PSi compressor can only pump out 200PSI

And either way, it wouldn't matter, as long as the set output of the compressor is within the tank's limits.
