Well I me and my bro just got some paintball gun cause it looked like a fun sport :) I got a spyder sonic and my nrother got a spyder sport. Anyway here in canada its getting pretty cold and I wanted to know if its safe to play in sub zero temperatures? It would be really fun to play in the snow, and I just wanted to make sure our guns wouldn't break if we used em in the cold temps. Also can you used conpressed air instead of Co2? Cause it costs me like 10 bucks each time I want to fill up my 12oz tank and its adding up quickly :p

Thanks Alot!

You can play in the winter, but it's at yoru own risk. The cold generally f*s up your gun. co2 sucks balls cuz it leeks into your gun and screws it all up. Yes you can use compressed air; in fact you should if you're playing in cold temperatures.

My experience w/ cold weather and spyders made me want to quit paintball, i was so pissed,so it's at your own risk. Just remember, the cold f*s everything up.

first of all, find another place to fill your tank, $10 for a 12oz fill is a huge rip, i get my 20oz filled for $7 @ canadian tire.
secondly get an anti siphon, it will help keep your gun from freezing up. then if you have more money i'd say get a palmers stabalizer or bob long torpedo reg to help even more against freezing and keep consistency up.
also try and get some RPS or draxxus winter/cold weather paint, wont freeze up to easy on you, making the game safer then playing with frozen paintballs.

assuming I get the anti siphon thingy (I can't afford the reg.) and some DraXxuS Arctic Infernos would it be safe to play in the cold with my gun? And would compressed air be the better choice for winter play?

Compressed air is the better choice for any play. It's cleaner, more consistant, and most importantly for you isn't affected by temperature.

Compressed Air would be a much better choice for the winter. I hope you knwo that you have to buy a compressed air tank, and your co2 tank cannot be filled with compressed air.

As for the paint, yes, that paint will work fine.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. Since it sounds like you're on a budget and you're using CO2, I assume you dont' have a compressed air tank. Those run about $70-$300+. And no, you can't fill a Co2 tank with air, nor an air tank with co2.

Yeah, you can play with CO2 and an antisiphon. Shouldn't matter much on a spyder since they're made to handle CO2.

And the reason you need another tank is that CO2 tanks hold mostly liquid CO2 and stand a max pressure of about 800-850PSI. Compressed air is pressurized to anywhere from 3000-5000PSI depending on the tank. The tank has to be much, much stronger.
