Barrel upgrade

I just bought a Tippman Custom 98 and want a cheap upgrade from the stock barrel.

Is the Dye Excel 14 in Spyder or the Smart Parts All American 14in Angel 01 a better option??

lol:laugh: Dude for one you need to buy a barrel designed with Model 98 threading...unless your using adapters which is even more money. Look into Lapco bigshots, and JJ ceramics. Although either of those barrels you listed would be a nice upgrade as long as you get the right one for your gun.

well then how do you know which barrels fit which guns??

Well, talk to your local paintball retailer. They *GENERALLY* know what they're talking about (just amke sure that they're refundable). Or you could bring your gun and ask them to get it fitted for your gun. Yep.

If ordering from an online site or thru mail order. The retailer should offer a wide selection of each barrel and the available markers they are threaded for. Example; {Dye Excel 14" Spyder} = Dye is the company that makes the barrel, Excel is the model name, and of course 14" is how long it is, and "Spyder" is the name of the marker the threading is designed to fit. Anyways you'll either be givin a choice of barrels by marker type or barrels by manufacturer ie Smart Parts, Dye, Lapco, Empire, etc.....and then you will be givin a choice of models that the manufacturer makes and what type of marker they are threaded for. Read thru the Barrel forums and thru the tippmann forums before you go make a online or mail order purchase. OR the best thing to do is go to a walkin paintball store and ask and get advice from certified dealers or well known sellers in your area.

Lokichi nailed this one. A DYE Xcel is a great barrel for the price range, just get in m98/98c threaded.
