This is my future setup: Tippmann A-5, 18" DYE Ultralite, 20oz CO2, and a BSA optic red dot sight. Opinons accepted.

Drop the red dot sight, make the barrel at MOST a 16" and most people will even say make it a 14"

you don't gain any accuracy by having a longer barrel

a 14 inch barrel would be better for you. The longer barrel will use more co2, and slow the ball down. 14 inch is the longest barrel most people use and some use longer if they play supair speedball to push against the bunkers.

Intead of the dot sight I reccomend a regulator. The dot site should be the last upgrade you get.

I also reccomend a good mask if you dont have one. That should be the the first thing to buy. You'll want one that has a thermal lense...such as JT Proteus, Proflex, Flex Ize, Dye Invision, V-force Morph.

take the barrel down to 14", lose the red dot sight, get your tank anti siphoned, and get a drop. and lastly save up for a reg

Id agree to go with the 14inch at longest, but ive never heard that long barrels use more co2.

Longer barrels require more gas to get the ball out at the same fps as a shorter barrel.

ex..

You have a 12'' barrel on your gun and it is shooting at 280 fps. You then put a 18'' barrel on without changing the velocity at all. With the 18'' barrel your gun will shoot at a slightly slower fps. So you will need more gas flow to boost the fps back up to where it was with the 12'' barrel.

I'm not 100% sure all of this is right. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

If you prefer longer barrels, get a 16" barrel. 18" barrels tend to be unwieldy.

Skip the dot site like everyone else has said and get a regulator.

Don't get a drop forward, it's not a performance upgrade and, in many cases, it hurts performance.

Can someone explain what a regulator is and what it does (why I need one)?
