View Full Version : Which vertical regulator would you choose for your Autococker?
I have a choice of getting a... Pure Energy, Mac Dev Gladiator, AA BlackIce, AA Messiah, ANS Genx-2? Those are ordered according to the price I can get it at [cheapest (Pure Energy) -> most expensive (ANS Genx-2)]. Consistency is most important! I can't shoot that fast, but a nice recharge rate would be good also. Or should I get a HPA tank that has an adjustable output pressure?
Thanks!

Silent Knight knows that I would choose the Gladiator out of any reg on the market :)

my vote goes to the glad cuz i own one, and they rule! ;) :D another good reg that i didnt see listed is stabalizer . . . sidewinders are nice too, i would go with one of these quality regs :D
I'm live in Canada... It's VERY hard for me to get the stablizer or the sidewinder. Not to mention if it breaks down I would have a hard time servicing it. I also have heard very good things about the Gladiator. Is it that good? It's so plain... So it's more consistent and had better recharge rate then the ones that I have listed? Hows the serving of the Gadiator? Would I be able to service it myself?

I'm all for the ANS Gen X or the Centerflag Hyper, both are top quality and are very consistent. The only prob with the ANS is the fact that the set screws can loosen and then you may shoot hot coming off the field, which is a B*tch. Other than that I've been +/- 1 or 2 with both.

here is another unisted one, the smart parts max flo, i own one and it is great, best reg on the market :) :D
But the Gadiator doesn't have a guage... Is that much of an inconvience?
How about an adjustable tank? Any difference in performance?

i have a guage on mine, well kinda, there is a gauge in my vert adapter . . . it will probably do better with an adjustable tank, but it works fine with preset, i use a preset on mine
will the gladiator work well with Co2???

You can either tap your Vertical Adapter for a guage or buy a Lapco Dual adapter, cause it already has a guage port.
The Gladiator works fine on c02. But you have to have it installed with urethane o-rings (co2 seal)

get a mini guage and install it in the bottom of your front block.....
anyway .I vote gen-xII......I have one on each of my markers....no noticable shoot down...
only neg is it's kinda uncomfortable to hold....but I wear gloves so it's not really an issue...

AKALMP Sidewinder - http://www.g3pb.com
Macdev Gladiator - http://www.macdev.net

Where do you get the co2 seals for the Gladiator? Does it come with it, or do you have to order it from Mac Dev? Or is it just a regular O-ring?
How do you rebuild the Galdiator? e.g. the ANS GenX-2 you can use an Automag parts kit.
Sorry for all the questions

The only place that I know of, where you can get a co2 seal is directly from macdev.net. I ordered mine directly from them and in the special instructions box specify that you want c02 seal install and they install it free of charge. They put urethane o-rings.
As for how to rebuilding it, not sure.

The ANS Gen-X2 is an AWESOME regulator! I have it on my cocker and it looks HoT,is VERY consistent (+/- 3 fps),it lowers your operating pressure A LOT and the guage allows you to read your operating pressure! The ONLY bad things are that it's not the most comfy to hold and the tourney-lock screws loosen as you shoot but they never fall out...

how does the ans genx2 reg lower your pressure more than any other reg? granted you can lower your pressure with it (just like any other reg) but how would it make it lower than say a, gladiator?

gladiator
gladiators rock but I love the centerflag reg that i got

it doesn't help lower your operating pressure....none do....they just regulate the pressure going into the marker.....it the valve and air chamber size -spring combo's.ect.....is what determines what pressure you will run at...
