hi i have a spyder imagine and i am a mid/front player. i was originally going to buy a 12 inch teardrop barrel, but my friend found a DYE ultralight that originally sells for 100 on sale for 60. the only problem is that it is 14 inches. i play mid to front, so do you think i should get the ultralite, or the teardrop? money is not an issue for me. thanks for your help! :D

It depends what kind of ball you play.
Regular speedball with solid bunkers, I'd say go with a shorter CP 1 Piece.
Airball or hyperball, IMO, works best with a 16" barrel, but 14" would be good. Get the UL

Go with the ultralight, don't go over 14" or it might become annoying to you. My 14" was to long. I should have gotten a 12".

i am having a bit of trouble. i have a spyder imagine, and i am a front/mid player. i play rec with courses that have monster truck tires stacked as bunkers, large wooden spools as bunkers, etc (mostly speedball). some of the courses do require some range though. i wanted to get a dye ultralite barrel that i thought was on sale, but then realized it was only on sale because it had a weird bore size. the lowest price i can find on one is 80. i was originally wanting to get a teardrop. i would rather save money, but if the ultralite is considerably better, i want to get it. what should i do?

Don't make a second topic on something you basically already asked..
What bore size is it? If it's .690+, get the UL, but if its like .684, don't.

its .686 . i have the money for a $80 UL, but just wanna know how much better it is.

I wouldn't buy a .686 barrel unless you ALWAYS use the same paint and its all .686 or smaller.
Spend the $80.

What kind of paint do you shoot?

i shoot diablo dusk, which is .686, so it wont work with the barrel. i could change, but i dont know if the 20 bucks will be worth it.

If the ball's bore is .686 and the barrel is .686 you should be just fine. :)

Will you ALWAYS shoot Dusk though? As in, there's never an exception unless it's for something smaller?

well, ive been shooting dusk lately, but my local field sells zap which is .685 . my other friend says getting the same caliber paint as your barrel is bad. is that true?

Only if it's at Wal-Mart or something, because then it's probably been sitting around for a while and is swelled up.
But if you know your paint is fresh, getting .686 paint for a .686 barrel is good.

so you think that i will be able to find a pretty good selection of paint that is .686 or .685?

From what you told me, yes. Your proshop probably doesn't let their paint get old, but check.

I say just get a large bore barrel as who knows what paint you'll be using down the road. Just safer and cheaper in the long haul.

lol this has become quite an ordeal. my other friend says i should get a 65 dollar 32 degrees carbon fiber barrel. there is one for 63 with an aluminum back and one for 67 with a stainless steel back. i would probably get the aluminum back. is this a good barrel compared to the ultralite? because if it is i could get it, pay 3 more bucks, and get a regular bore size instead of the .686 ultralite.

That 32* barrel isn't worth $60+... not even close.
Get the UL, in whatever bore you want.

hmmm....this is a toughy. i dunno, the guy telling me to get the carbon fiber barrel is an idiot to be totally honest, but he wont shut up about how good it is. i know the ultralite is better, but the question is will it be better for my imagine? both barrels have good ratings, but most people that rate have only used that kind of barrel besides their stock barrel. i have also considered getting a teardrop, but my friend has one and says its not that great. i guess i should get the ultralite... ...and i guess i would get the regular bore size.......geez this is confusing!

If you're looking in the Teardrop range, the Custom Products 1 Piece is your best bet. Anything above that, look at the Ultralite. Nothing else.
