All right, I'm pretty young, 13. It makes me mad when I get no respect at my local field because of my age! I know I'm not crucial to a team because I'm not very good, but every two or three games I'll shoot someone. They even fight to have me put on the other team! One team fought for 20 minuites because they didn't want a "pre-teen" with them. What do you think?

I'm 15 and on a tourney team. I think you should start with a pump gun. I don't care what kind of gun you have now just get a $50 pump gun. Learn stratygies to fields. Learn tactics like flanking and bunkering. If you learn tactics with a pump gun, it will take a while, when you put a semi-auto gun in your hands you will be deadly. Don't so called "sniper" just b/c you have a pump gun. Be the one that is agressive always moving up and being where the action is. Ask better players how they win. What they have learned, ask for tips. This is the way to get better. Ignore the people that make fun of you.
Don't get nervous out on the field. Just play your best. No one starts in paintball as a pro. Just get a feel for the game.

Well my setups nothing to boast about, Stingray II, 13" thunderpig barrel, 20oz (wit' remote), I lightened the trigger pull a little, nothing much. Everyone else usually has cockers, bushies, mags, shockers, they can outfire me,
I started with a tigershark and loved that thing! I've gotten pretty good at cockin' that thing fast, but I coun't cock it fast enough. So I went out and bought a stingray. It was almost the same due to how heavy that trigger pull is  ! So I experimented with some things and lightened it.

wow, what a bunch of a holes. seriously they are all acting like a bunch of little kids. at my field down here in the land of the mosquito we pick teams, but most of the time the captains are nice and will pick little kids ahead of some better players. we all play for fun, not to win. next time they start arguing say "hey i have to be on some team, now are we gonna play paintball or not?"

I'm 27 and most of the guys I play with cant hang with me during a game because I move fast and am hard to keep track of in the woods.
Last time I played there was a rookie kid about 13-14 who was looking lost when we were assigning sectors and planning out our game. I asked him if he wanted to try to tag along with me and he ended up doing pretty good. He did not get any elimninations but he did provide cover fire for me as I took out 3 guys, one after the other. He was agressive and although he was not the best shot, I would take him with me again, no prob. He did make a rook mistake when we were going against the final bunker. I asked him to move back and to the side to lay down some fire from another angle and instead of staying low and creeping over, he just stood up and got hit right away. Lesson learned though, I am sure that from now on he will keep his head down.

well at least you admit that you aint good. some people (like jordan) will do nothing but say they are the best, but they really suck and never admit it because no one on these forums (basicly) are going to ever meet. good job man.
anyways, just play rec for a long time and you will get better. i used to suck hard and now im simi-suck but still, i got better than before. paintball is all about practice

when i first started i was 13 and i had a crappy old spyder, noone ever wanted me on their team, so i asked some more experinced players to take me on the feild and play me and tell me what i did wrong, nothing tells you that you did something wrong like getting shot a couple times, now i am playing tourny ball only a year later on a team called the tampa bay raptors, and i am the youngest on my team and i am still learning things, but i cannot say im the worst on the team and i cant say im the best. but im saying asking people to help you out cant hurt your playing at all...

i used to want to play tourney but it is just a waste of money. if anything, im going to do 24 hour scenario games and crap like that. THAT! is fun

i personally think turny ball is more fun, its more fast paced than a scenario.

yeah but in scenario you get your money's worth by being in there for a whole day and not for a speed round!

The fact that you are asking for opinions shows that you are not the one that has the problem, they are.
You do have to realize that people, sadly, do not automatically show others the respect they deserve. You will have to earn that. Just be yourself and play your best, and others will respect you.
Heck I'm 30, and I sure don't think I'm the best of players, but I try to respect players of all levels. Besides if I down some kid, and he ends up shooting me with a ray while I'm packing $700 worth of marker, how stupid am I gonna feel?

13" barrel? I wasn't aware anyone made 13" barrels. I know there's a 15" on the market, but I've never heard of a 13". Your setup btw wasn't too different from my first one. I had a Stingray II with 16" Thunderpig and a Starfire bolt and a 4x scope, but I upgraded to my Shutter about 2 months ago and MY GOD, how I have improved since then. I'd reccomend getting rid of the Stingray and buying a Compact or if you can afford it, Shutter or Xtra. Believe me, there's a BIG difference. Anyway, as much as I would like to say "It's the player not the gun", you can't have a gun that fires slow, inaccurate, chops balls, or doesn't feed right and my Stingray did all of those despite being well maintained and upgraded. And those Thunderpig barrels are worthless. I bought a J&J ceramic for my Spyder and am convinced that the only thing that could possibly beat it is a boomstick. Get a new gun, even if it's only an $80 Spyder. You will find a BIG difference between that and your Stingray.

people i dont respect on the field:
kids with clear markers  (yesterday there were 2 kids with stingrays, 1 clear, 1 translucent blue, they piss me off because they just randomly shoot and get in my way :pissed: )
people that suck and talk sh*t, there was this guy at the field yesterday and he had a shutter with a hyperframe, all the refs were shooting his gun before the game and stuff, but then we start and doesnt do anything until the end of the game where he continues to shoot after the whistle and then cusses at my friend who told him to stop shooting after the whistle. he was also wearing a sleeveless shirt showing off his tattoo so he prolly has some ego problems as well.
people with long barrels
people with camo
people that don't move around on the field.
thats all i can think of right now.

When I started playing a few months ago and played in my first game we had it 2 vs 2 and I was on this paintball shops owners side. He tries using me as a human shield and telling me to lead but I fall back and finally he does. Mind you I had a Talon Ghost(Yes I hate it to). Now the first time I played which was really and armadillo I was in fear of getting shot,etc... but I got past that.
Saturday I went to a paintball war and I was using a Tippmann Pro-Lite. After the game I was talking to some others and they were saying how it was cool I was up in the enemies face and not backing down. So what you need to do is put all those hypocrites that don't know sh*t behind you and just have a awesome time.

This is totally unrelated, but I was wondering, how did that Shutter with the Hyperframe do? Did it compare to an Impy or a Bushy? I'm considering getting a hyperframe fore mine, but yeah, that guy sounds like a real jerk. Try and steal his hyperframe for me, k?

when bunkering them use the butt end of the sting ray to beat them in the face with it j/k. I believe that no matter what they say always try to do your best. if they are anygood try to find a pattern in what moves they make, then counter them and wait. This worked for me agents the field "pros" where i play. after you get elims on a few cocker owners or mags owners etc. they start to ask for you by gun or person.(i always got "the kid with the phantom"

i didnt get to shoot it, but the speed that the refs were firing was nothing impressive. i could shoot almost as fast with the trigger i have on mine (similar to the polecat trigger job, Hsuve did my trigger) so really i would just save your money and get a true electro and a polecat trigger job.

Don't be so elitist. In the woods camo helps a lot. It doesn't make since to run around in Blaze Orange and have everyone see you from a mile away; you want to be able to get within range before they see you. I'm not talking about camping behind a bush either. I'm talking about flanking and going for the flag and those sorts of tactics. There is nothing wrong with wearing camo.

Judging people because of their clothes is a pretty poor.
I wear camo when I play sometimes, not because I think it "hides" me on the speedball field, but because its old clothes that I don't mind crawling around in. Not everyone has the resources to buy the "Sock head suit" that seems to be the norm for the "real" players.

dont feel bad hell i was getting tuanted and made fun of cuase i was "practicing" with my pistol. I just keep my mouth shut and do what i have to do. If they light me up, too bad. I was trying to get my movement and evading down pat. I was more worried about getting the right position that getting them. It mostly the cocky ones who talk, but you have to see their face when the nobody with the pistol nails them point blank.
Cheers
