View Full Version : To Drop or not to Drop....

I heard a "pro" (self proclaimed) and a shop employee agreeing that Drops are passe (old hat, out, to become as the wacky wall walker (most of you are too young for that one))... The theory was that a Drop forward makes you taller and the standard bottom line was the way to go and the new trend. I know that most folks, er, kids just get the fad stuff because, well, because the flame shaped drop is just so RAD! anyhow, the talk insinuated that most pros are moving away from the drop for various reasons... So, I am putting my ear to the proverbial rail of the PB forums to get some feedback. What have you guys heard, what do you use, is this craze spreading to your neck of the woods, or is it the emporer's new clothes (like LP) all over again?

I dunno I made my own drop for the gun I have right now and I can get in a lot tighter then I could before and it makes a lot easier for using the Claw. well at least for me using a single trigger, but that will probably change once I get my new gun and I will need less of an angle to walk the trigger properly

big tank(long 88's and up)=maybe a small drop..everything else i say is personal preference.

i have a small drop i use on both of my markers..though i wouldnt have one on my cocker if i had a longer hose..

to drop or not to drop...

that is your preference, not ours.

i could care less what people thought about me if i had/didnt have a drop

I use a drop but thats just my preference. It centers out the weight of the gun a little more and doesn't make it so back heavy. I can squeeze into bunckers tighter too. I like drops but everyone has diferent tastes.

we all know it is personal preference... I like em... the whole point was a satirical approach to the fads in PB. It is funny to me how people feel the need to join the majority and upgrade... it is almost as if upgrading your marker promotes you out of noobism.

I am not knocking noobs... we all have been there and I hated noob haters when I was starting out, though when I began play, almost all of us were noobs and the anti-noob snob era had not ensued (at least where I grew up).

Just doing a case study on fads and wacky wall walkers.

I put a drop on my C98 and love it! If you don't mind the length and feel of your gun with out a drop don't get one. But "passe" and "hold hat" I think not.

Do people really get upgrades to go with the flow? I mean maybe I'm just different but I could care less what Joe Schmo has. If I like it I get it, bottom line!

one of the reasons i'm never getting a "flame" or "lightning" drop. i get what works & looks simple. and simple never seems to be a fad so, yay.

and i remember wacky wall walkers!

a lot of things do seem to be getting trendy in paintball. doesn't really matter as long as they're out there to play & not to put on a fashion/marker show.

Ergonomically, unless you have a 90 degree frame, you're in horrible shooting position for walking the trigger with a large drop. This, of course, depends on the length of your arms, but for the average person (6' ish)... With a 90 degree frame, you can't really tell the difference either way. That being said, I still like not having a drop.

And I pimp a Unimount.

Unless you have a Y-frame, large drops are painfull.

I use a large drop and will probably never not use a drop. I like to tuck in tight, and could careless how high my gun is. Although, I don't play in touneys or anything, which could be a reason. For me, it feels a lot more comfortable using a drop, especially w/my huge tank.
