Help!
I need your help here guys... heres the problem...
Ive been playing paintball for 3 years now (I am 16) and love the game LOADS. Since the very first day I played in my local field I wanted to purchase a gun of my own to upgrade, maintain and play with instead of the useless site rentals which would have issues hitting a truck at point blank range and without the sticky gooey grips, the dented, scratched mud-filled barrel and the hopper secured with packaging tape. So far my dads only real argument is that it would be dagerous even though I have poitned out that I can only really get cO2 and paintballs from the site which is at least a 20 min drive. Other arguments on his side are that I dont go often (only about 3 times a year) which I hope in increase once my exams have finished and the money from my new job as a dental assistant starts to pile up starts to build up. Another argument on his behalf is that it is not "cost effective" or something saying that it wont reclaim it worth - this is coming from a dad who regulary purchases all fancy gadgets and gizmos with his most recent being a GPS and a minidisk player.
Quite frankly this sucks - my friends are starting up a team and they are all getting guns and I am the only one left without it.
I need your help to get together information, reasons, arguments and data for me to provide a "case" to give to my dad (and the rest of my family) on why I should buy myself a paintball gun.
Thank you for any help - its most appreciated.

Your old enough to drive a car. You should be able to own your own marker. ;)

and as for buying a gun, if your responsible enough to drive then you should be able to own a marker.
they really should have no reason against it as long as your safe, responsible, and buy it yourself of course:)

unfortunately this is true, but there are a lot of decent responsible people out there, plus this guy seems responsible enough if he's already been paintballing for 3 years and knows the safety rules pretty well

If you have to provide a "case" to your dad and family....then I'd say your family sounds like they have some control issues and you most likely won't be owning your own marker without going behind their backs or till you turn 18........:|

? o.k.? that doesn't make sense.
Ummmmmmmmm...Paintballing intruduces you to new people and and teamwork skills. You could also disown your parents that may work.
P.S. Call it a "marker" if you parents are one of those "democratic"-"anti-gun"people.
Edit----------------------------------------------------
oh yeah
This is the sadest story I have ever heard.

I dont see why you cant drive, unless you couldn't afford to take it in the first place. :| but just convince your dad, family, whoever to let you play, its safe, so dont worry. Unless your dumb and play without a mask :finger: beg and plead and get on your knees, uhh...maybe not

tell him that if you get a marker you will not have to rent a gun each time you paintball. thereby dramatically lowering the prise of your paintballing expreiance.
oh and by the way guys he lives in London and i don't think the driving age is 16...correct me if i am wrong

states and countries have different age limits on driving. If you mean London as in England, it's probably 17 or higher.

Dental assistant? I know they don't make dentist wages, but don't they still make pretty good wages? Plus don't you need a college education to be one? Or am I just thinking about a dental hygenist?
Anywho, pros on owning marker:
- Its a hobby outdoors (no playing video games)
- Its physically active, if you actually play the game
- Meet new people/friends
- Its one of the safest sports to play (actual stats on this somewhere I think)
- Its fun
- And again point out the safe part, just think of football (smashing into other people with force) or other ball orientated sport where pulls and strains are kind of common.
Been posted before, but if he still says no say your going to pick up snowboarding/skateboarding, still no, wrestling, still no, boxing, still no, join in obstacle race downhill backwards while drunk.

bring your dad to the field next time and let him see all the safety precautions and everything, also try and get a ref to talk to him and set him straight. if that doesnt work, let your dad watch u play a game
and if that doesnt work, let him shoot u and see how much fun it is:P
