Before you guys start flaming me with hyperactive posts about safety and why CO2 tanks should only be worked on by qualified personel, rest assured that I have already contacted my local proshop. They told me that this procedure would have to be done myself, in my own shop, with my own tools.

I have a CO2000 regulator that I want to put on a 20 oz CO2 tank. The CO2000 is made to replace the pin valve on the tank itself. How should I approach this operation? The pro shop owner was vague with his answer and all that I heard was something about using Loc-Tite. The instructions that came with the apparatus are essentially useless.

Does any one here have any experience with such a procedure?

you have to first let out ALL the CO2....and then take the old valve off.....I would also remove the blow out disk to assure all the co2 is out... ....(it is probably lock tite'd on).....and you need to use red lock tite in the new threads....

How should I take it off? Clamp it down, then turn hard?

It's a brand new tank, so its empty.

When doing something that is going to release CO2 (always assume the tank is full unless the blow disk is off, or the reg is unscrewed) wear gloves, I cant stress how bad it would be to get all the skin frozen off your hands. Other than that safety precaution, I really dont know how to change the reg on a CO2 tank
