Well i am a n00b at paintball in a way. I play with people in the yard and stuff but not at real fields. The guns are my friends and not mine. I know i will like paintball at the fields so i was wondering... Should i go ahead and get the "good" gun and helmet now or should i wait a little bit?
good means good in my opinion so lol may not be the best :P

Well first i got a few questions. Tool kit being wat tools? Paint meaning paintballs? What's a Pod Pack? I thought a CO2 tank was on the gun? What is plus more?
im prolly willing to spend from 300-400 dollars.

if he is just playing in his yard he will not need a pod pack.
if you are going to buy a gun buy a package deal where you can get a gun, a mask, a tank, all tools needed for fiddling with your gun, and a hopper. when i first got my gun i think the total price was about $200 or so dollars but if you are willing to spend more you can.
the plus more beaver buddy is talking about is more once you get into paintball more. you can buy upgrades for your gun, new masks, hoppers, new barrels. if you keep playing paintball more and more you will understand everything much clearer

well i know about upgrades, didnt know he meant that.
the thing is tho i am getting this so i DONT have to play in the yard . And also, i have a mask, and im getting a gun sperately. thats y i dont want to get the set. So wat about hoppers alone, are they cheap? also u said IF im playing in the yard i wont need a Pod Pack, so now do i need one? o well maybe i will understand later on!

personally i have never used a pod pack. mostly because i don't play in tourneys. but if you are going to be playing in tournaments and/or going through a hopper full or more a game, then you should get the pods.
i think that if you get a gun a hopper will come with it, but i may be wrong. if you do have to buy a hopper seperately it shouldn't cast you much at all i think a standard viewloader is 8-10 dollars

Pods hold paintballs so you can reload on the field in the middle of a game
pod packs let you carry the pods
this is a pod holding balls (http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/646/)

let's say $300. save that last $100 for paint & field fees.
mask - get something comfortable. jt flex-7, $45-50, is what i'd recommend.
marker (gun) - spyder xtra. $75 at pbgear.com or xpaintball.com. just a suggestion. there's plenty of nice, affordable markers to choose from.
tank - 12 to 20 oz, depending on size preference. shouldn't cost more than $20-30 wherever you go. get anti-siphon for an extra $10 or so. nice to have, for the future. decreases chance of liquid co2 getting into your marker.
hopper - start with a standard one, $5.
pod pack/harness - see if pbgear still has the 4+1 harness for $20. comes with 4 free pods.
tool kit - should be around $40-50 total
- needle nose pliers (preferably long nose ones)
- set of allen wrenches (metric AND sae)
- regular pliers
- screwdriver set (1 philips, 1 flathead)
- teflon tape
- rags
- small water bottle (travel-size)
- toilet paper roll (soft kind - good to wipe goggle lens with)
- marker oil (buy some paintball-specific stuff, like gold cup or whatever it's called)
- tackle box (just big enough for all this stuff - shouldn't be big at all, mine cost $5)
- battle swab
- straight shot
all that comes out to less than $300.
paint - check the barrel forum or ottersccustoms.com for barrel-to-bore chart so you find paint that matches your barrel. this could cost $40-60 a case.

Well I was also a newbie at one point and I talked to people who knew about paintballing (not on the internet) and they hooked me up with a nice starter gun. I sudgest that if your friends have a good knowledge on paintballing that you talk to them about what to get, but also the people on PBreview are helpfull too im just sudgesting a less complicated way.
