I'm gunna do a trigger job, a basic one, on my xtra and I was wondering wether I should get an ectro hopper or a new barrel.
By the way, this new trigger job that I am gunna fix will help me fire my gun faster, so maybe the hopper, but I think that stock barrel isn't to nice, so I NEED HELP!

if your short on cash just buy the hopper because otherwise your barrel is going to be even worse because of chopping balls, otherwise buy both:D

Barrel. Just control your shooting duration, fire in short bursts instead of long strings. Doesn't matter how fast you can shoot if you can't hit jack ----.

Barrel. like Sheep said.

and if you get the barrel, you prolly wont be shooting as fast, meaning you will save money on paint you can put twards the hopper.

u need a hopper first. you have to be able to feed paint before you can shoot it, at times people forget that.

well since you have the money for only one, i assume you dont have that much cash. Buy a revvie and then save up for a worthy barrel. So get the revvy, or reloader. Then save up and buy a DYe ultralite, or an All American

new barrel.

theres no point in fliggin paint with an inaccurate barrel let alone shoot strings of inaccuarte paint

Exactly, the barrel or reg or x-chamber should be upgraded first. Only if you chop because you can out shoot the marker should you invest in the hopper. Taking by what other post have said, if you shoot them on the first or second or third , etc shot it won't matter...just get the barrel first

and learn not to spray and pray.

Exactly. A new hopper will lose you money in the long run, because you will learn to inaccuratly slam through your paint and it will cost you more for paint and air.

If you just learn to hit what you want with one shot, that is all you need.

Barrel, just watch how fast you shoot.

Barrel by far, if your just filling the air with paint then your not playing smart. If your hitting your targets withing 5 balls then you are paying smart.

Also trust me as soon as you get more accurate with your shots your going to be buying less paint and have more money to get that hopper.

i think the last four or five said it best.... you don't neccessarily have to be choping paint with a regular hopper..... and a good barrel really helps!

You can improvise slow feed rate with not-so-fast shooting.

You can't really improvise inacurracy.

Get a barrel.

Get the hopper, a empire reloader. Accuracy by volume is the way to be.

Barrel first, because you'll learn not to spray and pray and you cam just fire in short bursts not long strings, like sheep said. Its more important to be accurate than just flinging paint everywhere. Also just get a cheap barrel so the money you save with paint from not shooting that much and money you could have left over could maybe buy you a empire reloader some time soon.Good barrels that are cheap are:Cp 1 piece(great),SP teardrop(also good),Sp progressive,Dye excel.:)

Barrel.

Anyone who plays by "volume first, accuracy second" is an idiot.

And if you can't score kills because your hopper can't handle 15 BPS...you just plain suck, and that's all there is to it. lol. :)

u always get the hopper first!!! cuz if u get the barrel first then u wind up shooting too fast and chopping or breaking balls in that great new barrel of urs. Hopper first barrel second

...said the noob.

i play with a vl200, and i've never had a chopped ball because of the hopper.(i have a 4-5bps trigger finger) You're an idiot.

i don't suppose you know anything about shooting, do you?

Don't be so mean....:pissed:

it kind of actually depends on the marker.....generally I'd say barrel first because....that way if you've got a good barrel you don't need to keep unloading on someone.

HOWEVER and a BIG HOWEVER....lets say you've got a race cocker.....and a vl200....well my friend....unless you want to make paintball slurpees I'd get a hopper first...

So you see it depends on the case at hand. In this case it looks to me as though he wants a barrel...however...it'd help if I knew the marker he had... all that said....you don't have to flame...

Do you play speedball or woods? If woods then go with a new barrel. If speedball go with a hopper.

REASONS!
In woods you don't shoot as much or as fast. You sneak around until you spot then enemy them move in until you have a clear shot and let off a few rounds. You need your shots to be accurate. (not that you don't need accuracy in speedball)

In speedball you use more paint, meaning that you would shoot faster. That would lead to a break with a VL200. Once you have a break on the field your screwed in my opinion. Unless you have a straight shot or something. After that shot you won't be able to clean your barrel like you want to so your shots will be even worse. Yes you need accuracy in speedball, since your opponents only give you a VERY small target to hit. Now I don't know the average size of a Speedball field all I know is that my fields main speedball field is 120 feet long. I play Backman, so that means that I HAVE to have an accurate shot if I'm to hit someone in my mirror or at back right. (I usually play back left) Now I know that sounds like you should get the barrel, but I say get the hopper becuase you have to shoot fast. You need to get as many balls out per snap as you can. If you break one your screwed!

TheBackMan gets a big  That's exactly what I kinda was trying to get at. It matters on marker and game situations.

Hollywood and the other one get over yourselves....

...it'd help if I knew the marker he had...Spyder Xtra.

Also, like most of the others, I would choose to upgrade the barrel first. Perhaps a J&J Performance Ceramic? Quite nice, and not too expensive either. If you shoot less and save money on paint, you'll soon be able to afford the hopper too (an Empire Reloader or Viewloader Revolution should fit nicely).
