At Florida Paintball in Largo: A newbie and I were exchanging heavy paint one day. I decided to use a trick a friend had told me about. I waited for Newbie to duck into his bunker and just started unloading on the bunker. I kept firing until I had advanced right up to the wall he was behind. I then went over the wall and made him take the hit. He lived to play another day:D

that sucks for him, thats a good trick if the guy doesnt know any better then to move around a little

I've since learned that it only works once. Even Newbies catch on to devious tactics. What was it that famous Star Trek engineer, Mr. Scott, once said, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, Shame on me."

Sorry that upsets you Nemessis, all i did was make an opponent take a hit. Just like I've been forced to take a hit by more experienced players. Why should I feel shame for using a tactic that works. If anything I think maybe that newbie will be more alert next he goes to play. It's not like I shot him in the crotch from five feet away, or shot him in the back.

your just saying its a new tactic but its been around since the sport had begun and i still dont agree with bunkering newbs...

Again, sorry nemessis ... i didn't say it was a new tactic (a tactic that I haven't used much maybe). I also said it's a tactic that more experienced players have used on me. In a game where the object is to eliminate the opposing team, I think I let that newbie of pretty easy. I could have flanked behind him and splattered him from close range. I could have come over the bunker and shot him, again from close range. Instead I made him take a hit. Maybe his ego got bruised, but I bet he'll be thinking about that next time he plays and probably won't be so quick to duck behind a bunker and stay there. Of course, I guess I could've stayed put and wasted paint trying to get him to come out. How boring.

True. ONe time a newb tried to bunker me... wrong thing to do he missed 3 shots when i was behind these barrels and i shot up and missed then he went down and i came over the top and hit him unfortunatly for him i had borrowed an angel that game (totally forgot) and it was on 8 round burst (allowed up here) and took the shot needless to say 8 balls wizzed out and all of them hit him

Whats so devious about bunkering someone? If ya aint shooting are you just standing there with your fly open? or are you behind cover while someone laying paint down at you?
Ever since the 1st grade i've known about laying down suppression (rocks) and advancing to drop the atom bomb on my opponent (fat mud pie). If he got bunkered its not because he's new really , its FEAR.

If they're shooting mudpies, maybe they drink heavily before hitting the field.

Ok muckraker, pick on newbies fine. Shoot em at close range, no problem. but when you start quoting ancient chinese proverbs as coming from mr Scott on Star Trek... taht kind of behavior is just irreprehensible :P

Where I play we have a rule called "bunker tag". If someone is in a bunker and another player can run up and touch that bunker with his/her hand then the aggressor (bunkerer?) wins and the person being bunkered (bunkeree?) is called out. Things get interresting when the person in the bunker gets wise to an attack as the opposing player is running up to the bunker (read as- opposing player can just as easilly take it at close range as the player in the bunker could with normal bunkering rules). It seems to me that this evens out competition and doesn't give experienced players such an advantage. Since newbies are more prone to stay in their bunkers and experienced players are going to make that suicide dash, the advantage gets shifted towards the newer player being able to score painful close range shots on some angel toting veteran.

ps. Why does bunker start to sound funny after you type it over and over again. Try saying it out loud a whole bunch, bunker, bunker, bunker, bunker... cool, huh?

I like that rule ... we play some attack and defend games where one person on the attacking team has to make contact with a bunker in order to win.

also once me and a newbie we fireing at eachother for like 15 mins in a 24 hour game and i stud up and looked at his bunker and he was standing up cleaning his berral

Thats been around for a long time! What have you read APG or something? Bunkering is fun... Try using your team, like ask your teammate to lay down cover fire instead of you... (Make sure he doesn't shoot you!!!) so u can bunker an enemy, it's good because sometimes your opponent can here the shots from your barrel coming closer and closer, but if your teammate does it, it sounds far back... :D

That is a good thing you did. Now the newbie that you bunkered will know next time someone does that to him that he should do something otherwise he will get nailed again.
