I'm thinking of buying one in the near future.. Should I get that handheld one? Or a big bulky "field" chrono? Or both perhaps? What advantages do each have over the other? etc etc etc.

the hand held ones are good for refs...u can bring them on the field if u think somone is shooting high instead of carrying a big bulky one tot hem and checking them...the bulkyer ones on the other hand are usually better...i find them to be more accurate...i would get both...just so u can check ur own and u dont have to check everyone elses with just the small carryable one. but if u dont really ref or own ur own field im not sure the point of getting one unless u want to know ur own...which then get the smaller one...so depends what u want one for

Well i dont ref.. but i dont own a field..
Basically I just want one for myself and for my buds when we play outlawball. Everyone shoots so hot its crazy. Im thinkin handheld just because I can have it on me all the time, but also the big one so i can just leave it on a table everyone can chrono, and the accurate part. Both might be a little expensive....

the handheld will be fine,the bigger one is easier for larger numbers

Red Box- Costly, Bigger but portable, precise, easy to use

Get the bigger one. You really don't need to have it with you all the time, and you can just leave it with your gear when your playing with your friends.

handheld is alright, not quite as accurate as a bigger one but its more compact and easy to carry around and provides a semi accurate reading, and is under half the cost of a big one.

but for accurate readings and user friendlyness and being somewhat transportable, big reds the winner
