Back again with another Noob question. Can someone explain to me the difference between a Co2 system and a Nitro System? I know the Nitro Systems are typically more expensive, looking at the different air systems out there, I'm having a hard time learning the difference between the two.

Nitro uses compressed air or nitrogen to power the marker. Its clean, stable and generally all around better. CO2 is a cheap power source, usually liquid in the tank, and it's prone to temperature fluctuations and poor liquid expansion.

O.k. now here's a REALLY stupid question... Are there different tanks for Nitro and different tanks for Co2?

yeah there are certain tanks for co2 and certain tanks for nitrogen

O.K. well I don't want to buy the wrong one. Do most fields offer both options when refilling? Is there anyway I can tell which kind is which when I'm looking at them on the websites that sell them? Sorry for all the questions, I've been able to answer all my questions so far by just reading until I figure it out, however I'm stuck on this one. I don't want to spend 200-300 bucks on a tank only to find out I bought the wrong type.

Thanks

Check with your local fields to see if they offer HPA and CO2 fills, or just one or the other.

On websites, nitro tanks are generally under "Nitrogen Tanks" or "Compressed Air Tanks" while CO2 tanks are generall listed under "CO2 tanks".

Thanks alot for your help. I know these may seem like really dumb questions, but when you don't know, you don't know.:D

Another thing for distinguishing nitro from CO2 tanks is that nitrogen tanks will have a rating of some large # general in the thousands I think of pressure (I don't own one so I really can't say), and a CO2 tank will have oz or ounces, 9, 12, 16, 20 being the most common.

The main indicator will be that a CO2 tank is apt to be around $20 give or take, while a compressed air/HPA/nitro tank will run you at least $70. Also, CO2 tank size will be measured in ounces (oz) while a nitro tank will have be measured in cubic inches (ci). Also, nitro tanks will have a pressure rating in psi (like 3000psi).

Good luck comrade.

There are no dumb questions, only dumb people who don't ask and learn. - Anonymous

Just me but I think one of the main indicators of the difference between the two is that all HPA/nitro tanks will have a micro gauge on the regulator. I personally have never seen a Co2 tank that is sold with a gauge on it.... Since Co2 tanks are filled by weight on a scale and HPA by internal pressure...read on the gauge.
