hmm.... lets see here, aluminum, yes, aluminun, uh hu its aluminum, i guess it must be aluminum.
Snivle snivle, i wanted a steel one, i don't want to go in and have it re-honed.... Doesn't honing make the bore size larger???
ALSO, if i do decide to get the T.D., i'm planing on going LP, does this have the 7-8 inches of un-ported barrel that i need to get max. vol.?

SP barrels in general are pretty inefficient.

Good thing that answer all my questions hu? I don't want to sit here and read you people ( and imagine your voices, i don't like your voice Kowz...) talkin bout how inefficient it is...
HONIng people... and i want to know where the porting starts! I don't really care what barrel it is any-who, this one is cheap and looks nice, there all peices of metal that shoot yummy paintballs...

the reason he said about was because you said that you were going to go lp so its nice if you have a efficient barrel

How am i supposed to know if its efficient, if i dont' know where the porting starts??? mabey he has issues with this barrel, like it killed his grandma or sumting like that. Once i know where the porting starts, i can draw my own conclusions...
HONING, i might not even get this becuz i dont want to go in and get it re-honed.... mabey i could get like, five... yess... five....:agree:

There's a lot of porting. IIRC, it's 8 or 9 inches in.
Before you "go lp" you should realize why you're doing it.

I do have a problem with this barrel. But when it's done right, it can work very well.
1) Smart Parts stuff is generally good quality, but there are many more duds in their stuff than say... Custom Products.
2) Too Much porting. Supposedly it increases accuracy. It's all BS. The only thing it does is quiet it down and makes it a pain in the arse to clean.
3) They make 3 barrels, all of which are the same. Progressive = Teardrop = All American What's the point?
This isn't because of all that smart parts bs, this is built on personal experience with their products, which are great most of the time, but there are a lot of duds.

I agree with Kowz

All Americans are decidedly different. They have alot less porting and decidedly different porting. Teardrop porting is directional and elliptical (an alot more numerous.) All American is smaller and circular. AAs are alot easier to clean.

I think he objects that that's the only real difference between the low end TD and the high end (well, price wise) AA.

WOW, thats a nice avater lokichi, i can't have one, court order... snivle snivle...
ANSWER MY QUESTION ABOUT HONING! Aluminum is soft, and i read that you had to get it re-honed everyonceinawhile, and that it might make the bore size bigger. I might as well get a new barrel!!!!!

the teardrop is that soft that a rehoning would be in order, i have one and its pretty sturdy and hasnt bent or anything on me (pitchforked it a few times)
it may be aluminum but its pretty strong

wouldnt rehoning make your bore size smaller, cause your adding to the barrel, not taking away

If you put enough paint through your barrel that'd you ever need to rehone it then you need to look for a better barrel than a Teardrop.

? really? i thought honing it was sticking a brush down the barrel, spinning at high speeeds... the brush strips away any imperfictions and makes it smooth and shiny... preetttty shinny...

anyways, how often do you need to rehone you barrel (i have a UL)?

That is why i started this thread, thread, thread, thread, thread, sorry i like typing that...
I want to know how often i am going to need to re-hone it, and if it does increase the bore size. If it increases it to much and i need to hone it to often, then i'm just going to save a while more for a stainless steel one. Although the teardrop matches my gun... and its pretty... thread thread thread thread thread thread....
OK something totally off subject here, whenever i click on a banner or a link to another page on this web site, and error report comes up and it closes the browser down... snivle snilve...
