im looking to buy a new gun...now i know there are prolly some threads out there that say this but someone just reply to this one and tell me..im lookin for ALL OPINION...im not really a tournament player i just play for fun like in my woods with friends and stuff...so...i have a Tippmann Model 98...yes a Wal Mart gun to much surprise  ...not really but anyway...the only so called "upgrade" i have for it is a 16" carbon fiber barrel...so here are my questions...oh ponder on this for a moment before you (hopefully) answer...i only play backyard pb now but i might end up takin it serious and play some big time pb...so now go ahead and read and answer them...
1. Should I get another gun? (if yes go to number 3 if no continue to number 2)
2. You answered no...if you answered no please tell me some good upgrades for it...and there isnt really a question so dont worry about goin to another question
3. Since you answered yes...and you must think im FILTHY RICH <---- sarcasm.......then tell me another good gun to buy

you dont need a better gun to play a higher level of paintball. It's up to you and how much money you have. I played with a spyder for a long time in the woods and on courses. So it's upto you. On the tippman all you really need is a barrel and if you want some comfort items.( grips, dropforwards*

We weren't frustrated, we just give our opinions on the subject really often and don't like to repeat ourselves.
Here are answers galore to your many questions:
1.) Right now? NO! Right now you just want to get started and acclimated to the rules, strategies, gameplay, tactics etc. you don't need another gun at this stage. However, it might be advisable to get a good mask an pack just to get those purchases out of the way. If you decide to get really serious and you find your Tippmann has SERIOUS short comings(i.e. things that can't be over come by just playing better/smarter ball) there is no reason not to get a better marker.
2.) Our opinions on upgrades are all pretty consistent now, upgrading a Tippmann has been reduced to a pretty simple formula:
Barrel + anti-siphon and/or X-Chamber + Electric Loader + Double Trigger = Tippy that is good enough for anything
for more on what to get an where to get it I will suggest again that you just look around the forum as it will be quicker than waiting for responses anyway.
3.) When/if you decide to get another marker you have a few basic desicions to make.
First, why are you getting another marker(after all you're not filthy rich)
Second, what will you use it for, this covers a huge area, Speedball, Woodsball, Stock Class, Tourneys, Scenarios...the list goes on and on.
Thirdly, price, there aren't very many quality intermediately priced markers out there it's either kinda inexpensive or really expensive. The stuff in the middle(E-Spyders are a classic example) is usually a basic marker with some extra stuff that you wouldn't get on a lower end model. These upgrades make the gun decent but still not as good as a High-end(Cocker, Mag, Matrix, Angel, Timmy) gun.
Lastly, stuff this new marker might need that your old marker didn't need, HPA, Batteries, a Barrel Kit, More Maintenance, these things add to the cost, don't forget to factor them in.
Hope that helps.

1. Not yet 2. Coenen covered it 3. Good second guns IMO
Mag- not to pricy, better than blowbacks, upgradable to the level of any other marker right now, very durable and reliable.
Cheap Cocker- Pretty much same reasons as mag, more complex, less durable.
BKO- cheapest elecroneumatic, able to hold its own against anything.
