Does PMI make a low pressure chamber?
I saw a LP chamber with ASA adapter on bbtpaintball.com, but they don't have a pic of it. I'm thinking about getting a reg and the lp chamber for my STS.

I dont think PMI makes one, but they might.
The threads are the same for a Spyder LP chamber, and MANY companies make those...
However, I have had two that didnt work right, one was a Shocktech and the other was a no namer.
Dont know why, but they wouldnt seal. I would suggest buying at your local store(they should have them) and airing your gun up right there to make sure it works. I had to return both chambers.

Is it possible to mount a guage on the exisiting Ram Chamber? I could always take the ram out and seal the hole in the end.

Yes you can, however I would recommend drilling and tapping your Vertical Adpater rather than the RAM chamber. The ram is rather thick, and is skinny so a nice hole would be very hard to do. Drilling and tapping the VA is quite easy. See my Faq for insructions, sorry, no pics. Polecat, and other machine shops (such as K&P Customs) will do it for you for about 10 bucks. There is always the choice of a Lapco Dual Adapter, however those a utt bugly. Personally I see no use for a gauge, paintball gauges are very inaccurate, and it is just another thing to leak, break, etc etc. And I think they look dumb:)
Yes, you can plug your ram if you want. I removed the spring and just threw the piston in there, works like a LP chamber, and doesnt move, so it doesnt leak as much.

Just curious, if you don't use a guage to measure PSI entering the gun, how do you know if you have the regulator set right?
I'm thinking that you adjust the inline, chrono the gun, adjust the inline, chrono the gun, until you get the right velocity. But Hey, I could be wrong.

The reg setting depends vastly on the gun setup. A change of a bolt, valve, barrel, paint, temp, hoses, etc etc etc can effect what your reg needs to be set at.
Personally I use a gauge like this:
Figure out what reg is set close to. Use old ASA and gauge to find a general psi. (in my case, I started at 300)
Put reg on gun, chrono.
Adjust reg
Find setting that the GUN likes best.
A Lower OP(opperating pressure) is NOT always better. Personally My gun is running at 500 psi, because thats what it likes. I had her down to around 300, and she didnt like it. I moved the reg up, changed some springs, and at 500 it shoots like a dream. People blabber on and on about LP and all this, they may SAY its 'better' however setting your gun to what it performs best at is ALWAYS better. Take shockers for example, very LP guns, kick like there's no tomarrow, and hog up gas like you wouldnt believe. Now look at say...an Angel. Not so LP, have very small amount of kick, and are decent on gas. Now take a final look at the Excalibur, VERY LP(just like a shocker) no kick at all, and are GREAT on gas.
OP is what the gun and setup likes, not what everyone else tells you. I see countless people saying "yeah well mine runs at 250 psi less than yours" boldy, "yeah, well mine shoots better, more consistant, and I get twice as many shots as you"
Enough of my blabbering, gauges are for hosers!:D

Chris B, the guy you two sort of ridiculed is known very well in our pirahna forum.
http://pub26.ezboard.com/fpiranhaforumsfrm1
He has his own store @
http://www.pdpaintball.com/
He specializes in low pressure pirahna's. I think he was the first to actually come out with an electonic low pressure kit for the pirahna and he can custom make pirahna parts like an asa with a gauge in it.
It Probably doesn't mean much to you but he seems like a pretty cool guy in the pirahna forum!!!

Yeah well guess what, I'm 'well known' here, pbc, cP, pnb, paintballchannel, and forumco.com/101 in the Piranha forum.
Chris knows his stuff, just because he made a kit to turn the thing into a bushy doesnt mean hes a god. I never ridiculed him, learn how to read.
Wow, he has a store, woopie!Um, ASA with a gauge on it is so simple it isnt even funny....
Please at least post in threads where he HAS posted. So far its been me and Muck in this thread, you are obviously trying to start a flame war. Congratulations, you have just lost all respect in the PMI forum you ever might have had.

OK, I ordered the a PMI Pure Energy Reg to day, should get it in about one week. I decided not to order the LP chamber, mainly because I don't want to sink much more money into the marker (I'd rather save some money to buy a cocker, or something). So, the question of the day is this:
What's the best way to determine the best setting if I'm not using a guage?

Install the reg and turn it down alot. Now shoot your marker and adjust the reg up untill your marker will recock and shoot at the wanted velocity.

Install stock valve spring
Install light to medium mainspring
back out velocity adjuster 3/4ths the way
turn reg down
fire
turn reg up
fire
turn reg up
(you get the point)
When it starts cocking good, shoot some paint through it. It will need some more fine tuning. A chrono is a wonderful thing to have during this process:)

yeah, I'll probably install it at the field, just for that purpose ... Sorry to see ya leaving Pro ... Have Fun.
