Hello i was wondering how to make my stock Spyder TL plus low pressure. Im guessing its high pressure now? What does making it low pressure actually do? I do plan to go nitro soon, does that make any difference? Thanks

Yep, stock it's high pressure. People have different beliefs on low pressure. I think this is what it does, feel free to debate so long that no flames burn. :)
- At around 300PSI, your efficiency is increased
- Reduces noise
- Reduces kick
- Increases consistency, as you require a regulator
- Increase accuracy as there's less ball deformation (This is usually the debated topic... :))
Nitrogen will make somewhat of a difference when going LP... It's surely better for your regulator than CO2, that's for sure... :D

Well, how do we make our guns LP? And how do I make a compact deluxe lp?

To make your gun LP, there are a few things to get. Your result Psi will be around 300, or even lower. This will increase consistency on your shots, and also consistency in velocity. You will not experience as much "spikes" in velocity like Co2. Here is my setup:
Taso Turbo valve for higher flow
Dye SS 12 inch for accuracy,
Palm Stablizer regulator (Best in the market....good with Co2...i actually do not feel much spiking in my velocity...so i don't see the point in going air right now....)
Modified bolt (took out Venturi....for higher flow
My Xtra is running aroun 280...with a 12 oz anti siphon tank....i get almost 800-1000 shots. Yeah..hard to believe but true..i counted my how mnay times i used my 100 tubes with my 200 hopper.....
HOpe this helps

Well, thanks for tellin me what it does, but u didnt tell me what i need for a compact deluxe to make it low pressure. how do i make my gun lp?

You'll need high flowing parts and a regulator to turn down the pressure.
Things you'll need to change:
1. Bolt - Removing the venturi will do fine, don't bother buying a new bolt
2. Valve - Either get a turbo valve or modify the stock valve
3. Valve pin - Modify it so that it allows more air to pass through
4. Vertical adapter - Either drill it or buy an aftermarket vertical adapter. The one I recommend is the AKALMP Compact Mitey-Max
5. Hose - Macrolines or steel bradied hoses are all that I recommend...

you will also need a reg, i use a max flo but they r expensive a hell but aka sidewinders, mac dev gladiators, have good flow and are all under 100 bucks, and a spring kit they r like 10 bucks i use a 32* one which has the springs ull need to change and last of all it helps alot if u run nitro but u dont need it.good luck;)

One of the most important parts of an LP setup is a barrel. You must have at least 8" of unported barrel.. The DYE's have to much porting. CP or Lapco will be very good. Don't forget to polish your internals as well. That helps make everything run smoother. Oh ya and if you modify your stock bolt make sure you sand the edges cause they need to be smoother to cup the ball better and prevent breakage. Bob long VA is also very good and for the valve if you sand the valve pin a bit it will be more high flowing. Good Luck

Actually, I'm the owner of a 12" DYE Boomstick and a CP 12". The DYE has just a slight bit more porting, but not enough to make it "bad" for LP operation. A Smart Parts barrel is one with too much porting...

In a LP gun, the air must encounter the least restriction possible. You need a reg., high flow hoses, high flow VA, high flow valve, high flow bolt, barrel with at least 8" of unported length, and a spring kit. when setting your springs, start with a strong valve and weak main, then fine tune from there. also, when setting your reg, have the velocity adjuster screwed all the in, and adjust velocity by changing the input pressure. that way you will never have to worry about clipping springs if your gun is shooting hot.

if your willing to spend alot of money get the:
aka tornado valve
aka ligtning bolt
aka mighty max lp chamber
lapco barrel
this is how you will recieve the lowest pressure possible. if your like me and not rich then i would just make the modifications.

I would actually start with a weak valve spring and a medium main spring... More air flow this way. I don't buy into all the AKALMP parts anymore, there are better for cheaper. White Wolf makes the White Wolf teflon delrin bolt, which is smoother and just as high flowing as the AKALMP Lightning. No need to lube as well, and is like $30 or so... The AKALMP Tornado valve also does not work very well with all Spyders, especially those using the slim style strikers.

hey im going low pressure and i was wonderin why the porting of the barrel is bad for low pressure? is there a dramatic difference? i hope not cuz i have a 14" smart parts All American on my shutter right now (ps. i heard tornado valves dont work great w/ shutters, is this true?)

Too much porting will waste your gas. Gas is what propels your ball, so if gas is wasted, your ball doesn't go as far as if you had a barrel with little porting. If you had a lot of porting, you'd then have to turn up your pressure, or velocity to get a higher velocity. In some cases, you may encounter sputtering problems as well, as there isn't enough back pressure to recock the gun. No, Tornados do not always work at all. They have a 50% chance of working with Spyders that use the slim strikers.
