Im new to the region..moved to Lancaster from Buffalo NY and I'm looking to play. Indoor, outdoor. Woods, fields. Anything. Can anyone help? Ive been reading the field reviews for the area yet most of the fields only take groups. Unfortunately, it would be just me going. Anyone need an extra person for their group outing? Or playing in the local woods near me? hah..anything!

Theres a place called Skirmish in Jim Thorpe PA. Probably the best on the east coast. I dont know how far that is from Lancaster though. http://www.skirmish.com/

Skirmish is about 90 miles away but from what I've read/heard, its well worth the drive. However, I discovered an indoor field 12 miles from me that I'm gonna check out this Saturday. Just hope they take walk ons. Thanks for yer post!

if your ever going to goto skirmish, i would suggest just goto EMR, cheaper, and just as good if not better their service and staff is alot better, and unlike skirmish u dont have to go 15 minutes to get to the fields. and 100+ for paint is a rip when its only draxxus midnight.

if you want the site its www.emrpaintball.com

Have we met? The names Steve Shuey. I live in Denver now, but until July I was in Ephrata too!

I'm a ref at Ambush Paintball, its on the southern side of Lancaster City in Conestoga. You are always welcome to shoot it out with the ol' gang, the Amish Mafia or if your level of dedication is higher, you might make it out to Ambush to face off with our newly formed Ref team sometime!

Alex. I was up at Outlaw today, hoping to run into you. I didn't but came away with this knowledge... Outlaw sucks! I want to get the word out in an effort to make things better there. I can't write a review because I work for Ambush. The whole place is the least safety conscious paintball field I have EVER been to. Kids not wearing goggles at the chrono, refs not saying anyhting. Shooting in the play area between games with NO masks on! I didn't see a ref supervising at the chronograph either.

The staff knowledge seems to be limited to open-bolt blow back markers. None were either willing or able to service a paying customer's Autococker. They sent him over to me. I got it fixed but thats not the point... what are these guys getting paid for!?

The prices were good and the staff was friendly but that hardly makes up for the rest of the crap goin' on here. Hire a knowledgable staff and yell at kids to wear there goggles and I'll let up on this place... till then they suck!

I would like to second his recommendation of EMR. It's about 1.5 hour drive for me, so that would put it at about 2.5 hours for you. Kind-of far, so it may not be the field for you if you are only looking to play walk-on. But, if you are looking for some excellent big/scenario game format, EMR's the place. Well worth the drive. Check out their Castle Conquest. It is ran twice a year (one in Spring, one in Fall). This game is intense.

Skirmish is a decent field provided your willing to do some self-regulation with regards to safety. Keep an eye out for hot guns and careless marker-handling in the safe zones. I've had good and bad experiences with safety there - I guess it depends on what ref you get. I believe they have over 50 different fields which does add ALOT of playing variety. Paint is abit expensive at $105/case, but there are price-break discounts (5 cases at $85/case, 12 cases at $70/case). So I'd recommend going with a group of at least 5 players.

Yea, I did EMR's Castle Conquest Fall 2001. It was an awesome experience, the Ambush Team will be there again this fall with the Amish Mafia.

I will always remember the day we openned up our campaign in Afghanistan because I was at the chrono and heard the news over a ref's radio...

I live about a mile from Ambush just outside Conestoga PA never played there heard the prices are too rich for me... six of us play on private ground several times a month.. i've been playing for about 3 years now and love it... mostly woodsball.. played at the new Outlaw sup field in Manheim twice and had a great time... when i was there the ref's and owner were very safety concious keeping masks on and guns conoed... seems like a great place to play evenings or weekends in bad weather and they welcome walk ons..
