ok, i've been looking at autocockers for a bit now. i have been looking at system X and wgp cockers. but befor i buy one i want to know a bit about them. i have figured out by reading alot they are somewhat hard to maintain. also what does it mean to 'time' a gun?:|

system x < wgp

system x's quality is considerably lower than worr's. and system x markers are not technically autocockers, though they operate the same way. cockers aren't hard to maintain, all they require is some lube every day you play and some external cleaning. timing refers to adjusting the time between the firing point and recocking point. read all the stickies in the wgp forum for more in depth info.

Ok i'll start off with what gun to buy

System X- My experiences with these are not good ones. They make really poor 3-ways and I've seen valves go down those alot. A guy who works at the same paintball field i work at just bought one against my advice and within a week he had a leak in the 3-way which ultimatly he had to replace. He got the run around when he tried to send it back so I guess customer service is mediocre at most.

WGP- I have two of these no problems work strait out the box. Great costomer service I've called them and they were quick to help and when my ball detent messed up they sent me another one for free. Never had a problem with either one really.

There are two thing in timing mainly timing the sear/lug timing (which is located in the trigger area. There is a hole on top of the body used to time this) and timing the front block through the 3 way. Basically you have to match up when the back block comes back and when your cocking rod falls so the gun will run smoothly.

If I were you i would get a 2k3 VF Worr Games Autococker.

So I'm confused...they call them autocockers? But they aren't? How are they technically different? I'm just confused now

a handful of companies make autocockers. but you best do as penny says & stick with the originals.

i told chibs on aim the reason that s/x markers aren't cockers, but since you guys weren't there...

bud orr, one of the owners of wgp, copyrighted the names 'autococker' and 'cocker.' however, he didn't patent the closed bolt semi automatic marker design. his company supplies other companies (like dye and kapp) with his own cocker bodies. in turn, these companies can advertise their markers as 'autocockers.' some companies, like system x, make their own bodies. if they advertise their markers as 'autocockers' wgp could sue them. so that's why s/x markers aren't cockers, even though they operate the same way as cockers.

read the reviews on the outkast. i've never met an outkast owner that hasn't loved it. some shops can time cockers, some can't. it's really not so hard that you can't do it yourself.
