View Full Version : Max flow on an Autococker

I have a pretty stock 97 Autococker. I'm thinking of getting the Smartparts Max flow for it! But the only problem is that the Max flow was off of a Shocker, and the Max flow is low pressure. Would it work on my autococker? What would I need to do to make it work?

Thanks

well, i think the max pressure for a LP max-flo is around 200psi, ive heard of stock cockers running that low, but a '97 i dunno. might want to experiment with your current reg and see how low you can go.

Damn... I don't think my cocker is going to be able to run at 200 psi. Is there anyway to make the tank high pressure? And how much does that usally cost?

dude....get a preset tank and an inline reg and forget about it...you would need to do a crap load of stuff to your marker to get it LP and I think it would still be hard to get it to run at 200....even if you bore out the valve chamber....

I agree. I have done an ungodly amount of things to my cocker, including boring out the valve chamber and the lowest it will reasonably run is 225. I mean I have done EVERYTHING known to man to get it running lower and it just ain't happening. I usually run mine at 250 and I get all the advantages of LP but with the lesser end of the drawbacks. Forget a maxflow. It's only for SUPER low pressure guns. If you want a good and consistant reg, get a Gen-x with a gauge. It's easily adjustable, great for all pressures and is VERY consistant (not as much as a maxflow but still pretty darn good.)

I heard that you can just change the spring in the Max Flow regulator and get it to run at a higher pressure?

If I don't get a Max flow, I'm thinking of getting a Gladiator reg with a PMI Pure Energy tank. How would that compare to the Max flow (provided that I can get the Max flow to run at a higher pressure)?

Well I found a used Max flow, so it cost about the same as my Gladiator and PMI (which is new).

Where can you get the spring to make it high pressure? And how much?

What I want is the best performance and reliability!

as far as a retail outlet, im not too sure where you can find one. But you should give the folks at SP a call. I'm sure they can help you out.

well it aint just the spring on the max flo it is also the piston design the pisston on the high preddure max flo is a different sie then the piston in the lowpressure that and stiffer o rings are the only difference i put a high pressure on my spyder and they will go from lik 250 to 800 psi they are the sweetest thing ever, great choice in reg.

big ugly spyder... Are you sure? Even for the Max-flo that is connected to the tank. I'm talking about the tank mounted regulator. So you have get a parts kit or something?
