My friend has a field (no trees or anything) and we seiously need bunkers. (so far what we use were barrels, but you have to keel down for cover). Anyone have any ideas for CHEAP bunkers that allow you to stand?

Use some old tires if you can get some. That's what my friends and I did to make 2 out of the tons of bunkers we have. Just pile the old tires up until they are the height you want them.

cheap? try free bunkers. www.ntpaintball.com had some good suggestions, but theyve closed down now. get dirt for dirt bunkers from pool guys, tires from mechanics, spools from bell south peeps, and crates from warehouses. a lot of the time theyll be happy to give away the stuff. and the importance of unguarded construction sites cant be stressed enough.

Yah don't spend money on bunkers...just make them. I Have just a flat lot (no trees or anything ) that I made my own field on and it came out great! Just look around and be creative. Learn to stack barrels and make all kinda of wierd shapes...it makes the game funner. Also pallets work great if you can nail them together. Just use ANYTHING that will make it so you don't get hit....hell use your car if you have to. Just get creative. that's the way to go

email me or something if you want more help with your field. I'll be happy to help

PLYWOOD IS NOT CHEEP!

I have built an entire fortress, yes a fortress with my family out of 20' 12"x6" and a hole ton of plywood. We even have planks to walk on, and a hut to hide in... The only reason for this is because we found it on the beach... Yes all of it, except for our nails, we have bought nothing. I'll try to get some pic.'s up next time I go out to my cabin.

So if you want plywood I would suggest going to a beach to scrounge. Beaches have so much stuff to get..... I have found tons of styrafoam and 3 docks. I love the beach,.

So *I* get all my stuff for free...now as for nails, he pays for that. I get left-over stuff from his jobsites, but its still good stuff, plywood, 2x4's , stuff used for planks, nice stuff.

use old pallets (from some supply store) and old burlap or cloth to cover the holes; we built a whole speedball field out of it

Pallets and plywood. We built a bunker 6ft tall with slots that open and close. Camo'd the whole thing up. It's almost impossible to over take. Unless you fill it with newbies:laugh:

Hmm lots of things work for bunkers. We built a few fields at my friend's house, we used those thick industrial garbage cans, a few couches put out to pasture, tables, pallets nailed end to end, some dirt piles, old car bodies (his neighbors are hicks), and piled bags of leaves (a lot lighter than sand).

We obtained a bunch of heavy, big wooden doors from a hospital that was demolishing a wing to make room to build. Its amazing what people will give away rather than having to pay to have it hauled off, or take the time and try and sell it.

pallets are not made form ply wood:rolleyes: they are made for hard wood boards, ussaly a thick 4x4 or 4x6 as rails and 2x4 or smaller for planks.. they are assembled to carry HEAVY **** and are not very light them selves.... i know, i built some bunker outa some palletes used at my dads shop for delivering 6 tons of sheet metal, it takes 2 guys to lift a 12 foot pallet, they were made from solid oak.

my friends just rode the back roads by the trailer park in town last night looing around, we found 4 sofas that we halled off and set up for bunkers this morning during study hall... try that.

Me and my freinds went back in a creek and found all kinds of stuff like: old bridges, wooden ladders, those big rail road things, peices of cut wood, old tarps. Then we would make some kind of a frame and put it next to a tree. Then you just stack logs or peices of wood side by side leaning against the frame. Then you can put some branches of leaves over it to make it blend in. Too , bad some mean person recked our feild.

My friends and I play in a flat field, no trees no brush, just scrub grass and sand. A while back constuction workers used the field as a dump for all the extra plywood, boards, pipes, a whole bunch of good bunker materials. But the city came and cleared all of it out including the forts we already made. Now all thats left are these giagantic wooden spindles used for storing cable. We would buy big cheap trashcans, but its public property and people would come and steal them if we did. So we have resorted to digging in to the sand. These bunkers are ok, but the sand and dirt gets all in your guns. We would use the spindles but they are about 10 feet away from a road and they are HEAVY. We got 5 people out and got one up and rolled one into the field. We are planing to get a whole bunch of people out and roll all of the spindles into the area of the field that we play in, away from the road.

I think those would make some sweet bunkers and would create an interesting game. People could push the balls around while using them for cover. Dunno how much they cost or where to get em but they are out there! If you want real bunkers that cost a lot of money, some real cheap ones (well not cheap but comparitivly speaking, go to gameonegear.com) They got like canvas bunkers held up by pvc pipe. I dont see why you couldnt make these youself, but you can but them from the company for 2000-3000 bucks...Good luck.

I can see one of those balls running over someone that's running around on or something. Spools work nicely.

I am planning to make a field this summer with 10 acres, but no trees. I plan on digging trenches, makeing bunkers out of hay bails, and a bunch of old free tires at the junkyard.

See...Anything works...You can drive around town and see places with crates and scrapped wood out back. Bunkers are everywhere. you just gotta be creative and ask people if you can take the material off their hands. Better then going to the hardware store and buying a huge board that you can get for free for like 15 bucks. Also, a good old skool way to build is to make a "lincoln log" type bunker. You can make it like a house or just 2 sided...Basically all you do is take a big log or stick or wahtever and stick it on the ground then cross another one so it forms a V on it...Keep doing that alternating sides and youll have a really cool looking bunkers while your clearing your wooded field of big sticks that are in the way. Sometimes I amaze myself...

I have allready started with makeing hay bail bunkers, they work great, I can easily move them around and stack em, it's really easy.

 i cant really find old wood to use. the places around me wont give up pallets and junkyard down the street wont give up any tires. Im broke so any ideas what to do?

Tony G

that hay bale idea is good but my dad was a farmer back in the day and hay bales wont last that long they will start to rot from the rain, if you covered them with something like a tarp they would be great. one of my local fields uses a type of canvas that you can nail to trees or tie to T-posts then cut little squares out of the middle to shoot out of. other thing you could do is nail two little logs to trees horizontally one about a foot off the ground and another about 4 feet off the ground then nail little logs brush whatever veritcally to the other logs and you got yourself a nice bunker. i personally hate bunkers that have fourr sides, a roof, and little shooting holes cause you can barely ever get a ball in those little holes then when you do you end up hitting there gun so they are not out, i think thats cheating just like the DMW

me and a freind made a feild 3 yars go and its still up today we used doors, barrels, desks, tires, pallets, wagon, grill, brush stacked on top of each other like in africa those things to keep lions out, plywood, an old bed, and hopefuly car soon all we need is permision from his dad to drag it 100 yard into the feild. its a pretty sweet speed ball feild and we got 2 towers for spectators and the vdeo camera cuz we tape ll our games so we can see our mistakes and wehave all the good bunkers on tap for memries like the one john did last time 3 ppl one rush took the whole team with him. the feilds huge though

A better way, I've found, and is guaranteed free. On your town's large item drop off day (every town usually has one, check around to find out where,) hang around and ask people dropping off good-looking bunker materials if they would leave 'em in your hands instead. 90% success rate :)

LEGOS!

Ok, im not really serious, but that would be very funny.

We use lots and lots of tires. Every month we get all of our friends together that have trucks and stop by the auto and tire places. They almost always have a huge bin of used tires for free.

As someone elce pointed out, unguarded construction sites are wonderful at night... From lumber to hyperball tubes to those big orange plastic barrels they use to block off roads.

pallets and 2x4's 6to7 ft. tall.or any long boards .old tarp or carpet u can make stand ups by stacking 2 pallets and supporting them with the 2x4's and screws or u make crouching bunkers with jus 1 pallet use the tarp or car pet to cover the holes easy way to find material construction sites (have a truck) or behind stores u can make a nice neat field where people will want to play

All my bunkers are mostly ply wood boards laid up against trees. I also just stack up logs. I mean u can use almost anything for a cheap bunker.

an idea just dawned on me. Use people (with masks).

Make em stand up straight and others can hide behind them, albeit it would suck utter donkey balls to be a bunker but you could switch every game.

best part of this no traces.

Please note i had little or no sleep so this may be slightly crack-headed

I'd even go scrounge around a junk yard or landfill or dump ... people throw away the damnedest things.

I play in a woods, and all we did was found a spot where 3 trees were pretty close together. He stacked logs and bound them together with baling twine (stuff is stronger than you think).

make saud bunkers wiht a trench behind it, works like a charm, pvc and tarp bunkers are good, look for old pieces of plywood in forests, and look for old druggie cars that u can take the doors off of, im serios.:|

Just dig a trench 2-4 feet deep and pile the dirt up in front of it, probably one of the best bunkers ive played with because you can move around(getting different angles) without you opponent seeing u, and they're free!

You can use almost anything....
ANYTHING!!!

But if you want a solid bunker without holes, wooden planks work well, and so do trash cans actually.
