There are a couple of things to keep in mind when looking to buying you first paintball gun that you should consider.
First thing to remember is that a gun isn't very good without a mask and tank.... if you don't have one buy one or inevitably you will end up in one or two way shot in the face or not being able to play. But lets get on to the good stuff.
1 Investigate your price range how much do you have or do you plan to spend on a marker? (Don't expect ot buy an angel for the price of a talon it's not gonna happen)
2 Look for a gun in your general price range and don't forget what things you will need besides a gun! You will need to buy The gun a hopper a tank most importantly a good ----*>MASK<*---- some oil and some paint to test your new investment out definately wouldn't hurt.
3 Ok you've got a couple of guns in mind , and alot of them look cool but which one should you buy? Go to a store near you and ask if they have any you could shoot you would really like to test the gun before you buy it... if it's not possible at the store go to your loacl field and ask some of the people there if you can fire their guns if you tell them hey thats a tight gun you got there can I fire it ?? More than likely they will let you shoot it...
4 Another thing to consider when buying a gun is what kind of weather is this part of the world used to is it always warm or always cold or does it fluctuate depending on the time of year? Do I need possibly an expansion chamber or is an HPA (high pressure air) tank necessary because of the severe conditions? And can I get my tank filled at the store where I purchased it do they have c02 and nitro or just one not the other?
5 By now you should have made up your mind on the gun you want cause it fels great fires nice and it's in your price range , is there anything else I should know? Well yes several things in fact! Like the gun is nice now but what if I want to change the barrel or get an expansion chamber
am I restricted in anyway? Ask the dealer you are buying it from if they keep parts kits on hand? If not it maybe hard to get parts if your marker gets sick.
6 Well congratulations on this marker you have chosen I bet it looks great and fires nice as well! Now there's only one thing left , take care of your gun.. the greatest gun will let you down when not maintained properly.Mak sure after every game you thoroughly clean your marker and oil it...
if you treat your marker right it will treat you well in return!
