i am looking to buy another gun i currently have a compact java 2000 with 14" dye excel barrel and a 32 degree expansion chamber/bottom line. I am looking for a gun with good accuracy and good range for under 400. Reason being is i find even with the upgrades i can't keep up (performance wise) with my brothers and another friends tippmann 98. I usually win but i get pissed cause it drops off really quickly or curves like a mofo sometimes. Any kind of gun is fine i am not limiting myself to a spyder. Thanks

Either a used cocker, impulse, or bushy would probably suit you well. Although I can't figure out why you would think your spyder can't perform compared to your friends tippman they operate in the same fashion. One way to improve accuracy would be to get a reg and hpa. That and use quality paint that fits your barrel.

I'm a new owner of a Bushmaster, woohoo! ;) Anyways, yes, a used electro, in my opinion, is a great idea to go for. Don't ditch the Spyder though. Just got my Bushmaster and used it on Sunday, however, it's not like a HUGE jump, in my opinion. Definitely will shoot faster than just about any mechanical gun, but accuracy wise, my Spyder holds right up with it. If you don't feel like getting a new gun, you can always get an electronic grip frame. I just got myself one of those as well, and am quite impressed with it... It's hard to see Bushmasters go for under $400, and I think I got a good deal on one for $415. Impulses, however, I have seen one go for $320-$335 (Can't remember...). I've shot a few impulses, and they're great. Not a crappy electronic gun either, they're great and you may want to think about one. Anyways, if you like the feel of your Spyder, stick with it. A Bushmaster, Impulse, or such will grant you a higher ROF, however, accuracy wise, it won't be any/much different...

Excelent ideas hsuve...I would either go for a used bushy/impulse or perhaps a used/new cocker...the 2001 vert feeds are nice. You have to know what your doing with a cocker but once you learn it your golden. Also I didnt' take notice to where you live before I chose to respond but if your area's warm year round you could also consider a used/new mag. Www.firstcallpaintball.com has new minimags for 309. They will run co2 in warm weather (perhaps with the addition of a decent reg and anti syphon even in colder weather) and are also a dam good gun. You should shoot a variety of different guns and choose the one that you feal most comfortable with.

i live in connecticut so i don't know if that is really considered cold weather. My question also included range... the rof is a good thing but i don't really see the need to cover the field in paint. I am looking especially for a gun with good acuracy with good range included. Are there any spyders that can give me both? I was thinking of getting a tippmann custom 98 and getting the flatline barrel put on it.
Next question where can you go to just try out the guns?

For the most part all guns have the same range and accuracy. This is due to the fact that any p-ball leaving a marker at 300fps will be flying 300fps and thus go as far as any other. There are people that claim the cocker has a flatter trajectory thus making it more accurate or fly farther, but really all trajectory is, is the angle at which something is directed Maybe the Faeries know how a cockers trajectory got flatter? I don't. As far as accuracy, a good reg/paint to barrel match will give you that.

Yeah, if a ball flies out of the barrel at 300FPS, it usually goes as far as any other gun shooting at 300FPS... Another thing that range is dependant on is spin. 'Cockers (With the exception of the Flatline 'Cocker) will shoot as far as Spyders as long as they're chronographed at the same velocity, as neither give the ball a backspin. The only guns that will give you more range than a regular gun, when chronographed at the approximate same velocity, is the Flatline Tippmann Model 98, Flatline 'Cocker, and the Z-Body Automag. I'm pretty sure that's it, but correct me if there's more. :)
