Just want to give everyone a heads up about the NEW 98's. They have redesigned the threads and Tippman manufactures the only known barrel that fits.

The other manufacturers are in the process on changing their specs to match.

Merry Friggin Christmas

Geez, he doesn't even have the serial number memorized, as most of us know full well all 98's after serial number 495,501 have an extra thread to help with barrel alignment.

For those of us with pre 495,501 98C's:

Mike at Countypaintball.com (http://www.countypaintball.com) has been kind enough to sell some 12" Aluminum Lapco Big Shot barrels bearing the old style threads at a slightly reduced price. That's why we love you Mike, you're so good to us.

We should get discounts from county givne how often we plug his store. Although I do genuinely love county. And order from him whenever possible.

Yes, Mike does in fact rule all.

Also, the other Mike(PaintballerX) at XCI (http://xcipaintball.com) rules too. He sent me a Dye Lanyard for free because I asked for a x-mas present. :D

Listen all of you jerk-offs!!! I was just posting info that I had found out about after purchasing a new 98 so that others may not make the mistake of buying the wrong barrel. It was with good intentions that I posted.

As you can tell, I am new to the sport and this board. I guess I overestimated the maturity level in here. Sorry ti inconvenience you little pricks and take up your valuable time. I'll be sure to keep any info that might be of value to you to myself so that you can shamelessly plug an on-line store (spam).

check your serial number if its higher than 495,501 that means there is an extra thread that was put on to align the barrel better.

Haha. I think you're the immature one here. If you don't want to tell us news, oh well. We'll have had it for a month anyway. And you've never ordered from Mike so you can shut your mouth. Don't be talking about stuff you don't know about.

So will the new barrels fit the pre 495,501 98C's or we have to buy the old ones?

New barrels fit both styles old barrels only fit the old style. This information is more useful if you are looking to buy a used barrel than anything else. If you put a new barrel on an old style gun it will screw all the way in, but there will still be a little bit of extra thread on the outside. I believe that Raptorz922 found a way to get the new barrels to fit with some inventive dremel work or something.

Yeah I did. I sanded the barrel and gun threads a little bit. It was tight at first and I had to loosen the front screws to put it on, but after about 2 or 3 times of playing, it went in like normal. Now I need to sand the threads of my gun halves again because I had to replace them.
