OK... I'm pissed cause I just lost all of this I just had typed out so here goes in a much smaller version.. for your benefit... I've now come to the point after not recieving any replies for my thread of Shocktech's gun to go with a Black Magic (Blue) I plan to buy for it.. and Dye Clear Sticky Grip, and a P&P Dye Boomstick 12'' Blue Barrel... other things I'm gonna need are and Fiber Wrapped N2 Tank prolly from Pure Energy.. but i don't know whether to get a preset one or not... also a JT Mask, VL Rev. 12V Blue Hopper, I'm going to need a ASA, Guage (I think) and hose... but i'm not sure on what for all three of those.. so i've come to you again the well experienced and willing to help me out with you knowledge instead of a biased opinion that can be found on just about every site now days... I really want to get the Flame Drop Forward and also like blue hoses to put on the 3 way... I'm hoping to find out what everyone thinks... or knows.. does this gun need a upgrade on the bolt or ram or anything for that matter... If you've bought this gun please post a reply... also i was wondering what all it came with and in what... I'll leave it at that... I hope to get more of a response then my other threads... so plz hurry and help so I can buy this awesome gun.....

i love the marker stock. however i shoot different paint so i have bought a freak and added some dye stickies. other than that i dont see a need for immediate changing of anything. maybe the bolt or a roller sear to smooth out the trigger. mine is running 300psi out of the box at 285fps. mine came with the wgp flame drop that is chrome and clear hoses. only opinion your gonna get from me is to get it you wont regreat it at all. i use a 45 45 preset from pure energy and love it. they are so small and light. the stock reg does the job well enough. at most +/- 2 ive seen on mine.

what is the best type of line to run to a Custom Products Drop Forward (The Flame) with asa built on ... no on/off part tho... should i go with like a macroline or ???? another thing is if i get a N2 tank and it says presest like 850psi output does the ergo reg on the black magic reg that down to what exactly? and should i or do i need a guage to put on the reg?

always when in doubt run MACRO line....yes the stock reg turns down the pressure of yur preset tank.....and if you really want to know what pressure it's set at...you can get a mini guage to put under your front block where the block cap screw is.....see pic

One problem with mounting a guage on the black magic like that. Because of the 15 degree asa adapter the guage will not fit on it like that you have to run a 90 degree elbow out of the same hole then put the guage in the 90 degree elbow. But in order to install the elbow you have to remove the asa and I have no Idea how to do this/what tools to use does anyone know? Also the plug that comes stock in that hole is a really pain to get out does anyone know any tricks on how to get it out?

ptflyer

ok....well where to start.....to get the asa off...you first must take the grip off.....next take the timing rod off the 3 way shaft....

then take a 12 piont 1/4" socket and unscrew the bolt at the inside center of the ASA...and it will just come off.....

to get the cap screw out of the front.....after you have the grip and adapter off...it will be easier to get an allen wrench onto it and just unscrew it......but use the correct size wrench....it will come off...

The Black Magic is a nice gun. I've had mine for about a month now and I love it. I haven't made any upgrades to it yet. Almost all the parts that come stock for the BM are upgraded parts already. It shoots fine just the way it is. I'm changing the flame drop forward to a KAPP Drop Zone II though.

As for the gauge, it has to be installed just like jaretkelly described. The plug that's in the front block has Lock-Tite on it. I tried removing it myself but it was impossible. I brought it to my local shop, the guy at the shop tried to use some muscle but it wouldn't come out. He said he would have to take the front block off the gun and use a torch to heat the Lock-Tite a bit. He would also have to remove all the pneumatics parts to prevent o-rings from melting. I though it was too much of a hassle so I passed on installing a gauge. If you know of any easier way please let me know.

you do not have to remove the asa just the reg to put an elbow in i know i did it to mine. after you have gotten the elbow in tight enough just screw in your gauge. i used stainless hose for reliability.

Look in the picture thread. There's a picture of the Black Fade Black Magic there. It's black in back and fades to a grey/blue towards the front. I got mine at www.paintballonline.com. I don't know if they still have them though.

I got mine from larry at Paintball Addiction and another guy here in canada got one from paintballgear.com those are the only two that I know of. These guns are the older style bodys with no sight rail. If anyone else has one of these please post here. Like I said I only know of of the two mine and kashiks.

The black magic's come with an excellent in-line reg and a good high flow bolt. My black magic runs 220psi @ 285 fps with +/-2fps over the chrono. The pneumatic reg is adjustable just not externally. You have to pull it apart to adjust it which isnt that hard and once you have it set you dont have to worry about it changing on you.

listen man you dont need the cp flame drop. The gun comes with a nice and i mean nice chrome flame alreday. it is even further out than the cp flame and looks coller becuse of the staggered flames. thats all from me. except why does my black magic have no sight rail and all the others i have seen do???? thanks

as far as upgrades goes, i'd hold off! give the stock parts
a chance before you go and change anything up. then,
decide for yourself what you think you would like to
upgrade. there is a perference for what parts
guys like to focus on. so, the answers will vary.

...out of the box, the bm performs pretty nice. plus,
the parts are reliable. there is a nice review of
the bm on www.paintballtimes.com i would have
to agree with what they have to say as far as
upgrades goes. like i said, it's bout perference.
just get some paint and hit the fields. then decide.
you might just like it as is!

Blackmagicman your bm doesnt have a sight rail because it was a first edition of the gun. When the bm's came out there was no sight rail but then wgp decided that it would be cheaper to leave the sight rail on and mill it like an sto so they stopped making them. The rare blue to black fade bm dont have sight rails either here is a pick of mine. Notice no sight rail.

...well i'm gonna go with the Black to Blue Fade Black Magic Autococker from www.paint-ballonline.com
I was wondering who has bought it from there? Does it come brand new never been opened in the box? If so what all comes with it? And if you could take a picture of the box... I was just curious what it really comes in from a online site....

i would like to see more people opinions... a little bit of a debate here... what do you all think is the best bolt for the black magic? Does the roller sear help all that much? Whats the best type of pneumatics to change out if you were to upgrade it? Who has doped out there BM the most? etc... come on people lets get this thread movin... more information... talk about it all from the drop forward to the barrel...... Please... :D

jett
10-02-2001, 06:41 PM
YES, a roller sear does make a difference. worth the money. smoother trigger pull.

and shockteck superfly bolts are awesome. but u might hafta put a new back block on ur bm. im not sure if its cut to fit the superfly.

jaretkelly
10-02-2001, 09:49 PM
Jett have you ever shot a Black Magic? Have you shot a Black Magic with a roller sear in it? I have shot a Black Magic I own one and two of my teammates own them. I have a roller sear have tried it in my Black Magic and found that the stock setup is just as smooth as the roller sear. And I would agree with you that the shocktech bolt is an improvement over the stock bolt but in my opinion it is not enough to justify shelling out the cash. As for the front end several aftermarket companys that build cockers are using the sto/clippard ram and the angry/sto three way. The only thing that people dont like is the pneumatic reg because it is not adjustable. But the reg is still excellent the evolution autococker uses the stock pneumatic reg just with the twister kit added to it. I dont care for the twister kit too much I think that it makes the reg too long and fugly I dont mind pulling the reg apart to adjust it, I dont think that it is worth the money to go and buy another reg because it is externally adjustable because it takes 5 min to pull the stock one apart and adjust it. But if you have to have an externally adjustable reg I would recomend in order the Palmer rock/micro rock, ans jackhammer, kapp and the mac dev sonic reg. I like the palmer regs but they are very expensive, two of my teamates have jackhammers and absolutly love them, one of my teamates has the kapp reg on his revenge v2 and has had no problems with them whatsoever and a guy that is a regular at our feild has the sonic and it has always worked good for him plus it looks very cool. I would not recomend the shocktech fgp reg cause I have heard nothing but bad things about them leaking although I have had no personal excpirience with them. The best upgrade for the black magic are a nice barrel kit so you can shoot diffrent sizes of paint such as the freak or any of the cp kits such as jt/warp/pro series. I would not recomend the otp kit only because it has such a short length of sizer that I dont see how it could be effective. Oh and dont forget to buy paint and go play then you will be able to make up your own mind about what youll want to change.

Whats a good but not to expensive tank .... i'm looking at a N2 Fiber Wrapped tank... whats bout the best size to get cu. and psi. ? I was also wanting to see pictures of people with the BM that has actually set up there tank asa and reg and hoses... I'm trying to think of what to get and how to set it up.. .As far as guages go to like maybe one on the reg. just to see what how much its regulating... As I said before I wanted the Flame Custom Parts Drop Forward that I believe comes with the gun from www.paintball-online.com but i'm not for sure.... I realize its early but I wish people would make this thread more active.... Also... I would think that to compare shots against a co2 and n2 is like comparing apples and oranges... but i'm gonna ask anyways... what would you get the most shots out... i would think co2 expands so fast that it freezes up and you lose pressure i thought so... you wouldn't get the same... I know n2 is more accurate but anyhow... thats something to hit up... anyone who has bought their BM from www.paintball-online.com what asa or drop forward did you get?? is it worth spending the extra cash to get a adjustable tank? well... i guess thats all for now

if it were me id trash the angled asa, trash the cradle, and buy a 45/4500 max flow, a freak, and a roller sear. the asas look really ***, plus they make it hard to hold. and drop forwards do the same. i like the way a 45/45 sits with no cradle, since i play front. thats just me...

ok...i'm gonna get the Black Fade Autococker from www.paintball-online.com now what does it come with? does it come with a WGP Custom Parts Flame Drop Forward??? what kind of a connection should i get macroline or braided hose???? how long should the hose be? people plz plz plz answer me so i can get this stuff figured out...... plz

snake19
10-04-2001, 08:23 PM
The Black Magic comes with an inline regulator. It also has a WGP Flame Drop Forward. It's not the same as the Custom Products Flame DF.

I use a 5" braided hose and a quick-disconnect on mine. You would also need to buy a bottom-line ASA. You would also need the 90 degree elbows for the hose or you could just buy a macro line kit and cut it to size, it's much easier to install.

All you need to buy in addition to the gun is the hose, elbows, a bottom line ASA and a hopper (motorized).

That's it. Then just add air and balls.

jdunnigan
10-04-2001, 08:36 PM
I realize it comes with the WGP Flame Drop Forward... so did you just get a matching asa from the custom parts flame drop forward which are almost identical.... and what kind of quick disconnect? can you take a picture of your gun to show me?

snake19
10-05-2001, 01:20 AM
It just a regular chrome ASA.

snake19
10-05-2001, 01:23 AM
Here's the other side so you can see the quick disconnect.

I'm gonna change the drop forward to a KAPP Drop Zone II and Drop Zone ASA. It's supposed to arrive today. I'll post the pictures for you when I have it set up.

ok, the stuff your worrying over is trivial stuff. you buy the gun, go the the field and buy whatever kinda hose will fit when you get there, put an air system on it and go play. dont wait to buy a gun because you dont know what kinda hose you wanna run on it. run the hoses however you want, macro or steel braded will work, i prefer steel since it wont blow out during games. as for length, whatever will fit. buy the gun and see when it gets there. if you like cradles use the one that comes with it. no big deal.

jdunnigan

Well... I bought my Black Magic Autococker Black Fade from www.paintballonline.com Who all has a Black Magic? If so what have you done to it to make it better or more stylish? If you would plz post a picture.... Also I was wondering whats the best Pneumatics, ASA, Quick Disconnect, 3 Way, and Valve are best for the Black Magic... either in your opinion or based off facts....

IMO, it makes the gun very compact and balanced. Also along with the quick disconnect, it allows me to use a hex key to loosen the cradle and slide the whole tank and cradle. No more screwing the tank in and out and risk messing up the threads.

i know i'm weird bout things... thats just how i am sometimes. The only thing that pissed me off was it never said anything bout not coming in a box with stuff... thats all and when i use to play no one used macrolines so i was just curious i haven't bought anything but my gun and a evolution hopper that has a broken piece of plastic so its gonna have to be sent back... how easy that will be who knows... i'm just all excited bout getting back into the real sport of paintball and trying to help it grow some in our town... which is sorta hard right now but never the less anything is possible... but i wish you could be a little nicer to me instead of being all mean i mean sure i don't know much anymore bout paintballing but there is no reason to act that way i'm just looking from help from people like you that know a lot... but thank you for yelling at me... guess for being 18 i was acting sorta childish bout $hit

ok.well ....welcome to the wonderful world of the auto cocker.....

first you will need some sort of tool box....and in that box...get a set of standard allen wrenches...paintball marker oil...teflon tape....a couple of screw drivers...a small adjustable wrench...(or a set of small open end wrenches)....and that should get you started....with the tools you will need to fix almost anything that can go wrong...excluding parts like o-rings and springs..

I say almost because to take out a valve you need the valve tool....but you won't really ever have to do that for general maintance

oh...I almost forgot...blue loc-tite....

i agree with $hort $troke that you are worrying to much about things that you shouldn't worry about. and i don't think that he was yelling at you or being mean, he was just saying its a box and not being in one from WGP isn't something to be getting all work up about. i mean really did the gun get to you...yes, did it arrive in good condition and nothing wrong with it...i assume yes because you didn't complain about it being in bad shape. so to say the box it came in was good packaging for it isn't something i would get worked up about and why should they worry about telling you what kind of box it comes in...does it really matter if you get the right gun? and another thing is begging people to post and get you your answers...i mean come on do you think that people just cruise these boards all day and have nothing better to do than to answer your post. not that they shouldn't but most of your posts are only couple hours a part and no one posted so you post another post begging people to answer. just give people little bit more time to post. oh well just my two cents. and don't post saying that i am being mean to you, i have had a bad day and your thread just got really annoying with all the whining you did. your best bet since you have the gun is to take it to your local field and ask the proshop guy to look at it and see what he thinks you should do to it and set it up. after you have it going and use it a few times you may like it the way it is or find something you don't like and want to change it. so then change it to something else you think you might like this will save a lot money then just going out and buying something expensive and then you not liking it and have spent that money plus more money to get something else you like. also have him show you how to tweak it and adjust it so that it shoots better.
