yah Either a Spyder or a Tippman Model 98...but if you get a model 98 ....absolutley definalty no question get a new barrel...don't even wait to try the stock barrel....It is HORRIBLE BEYOND YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE....really it sucks....so just buy a new barrel and a m98......or get a Spyder 2000....those things are tight!

You can get the spyder flash which i electronic for only 300.00 with the quality of kingman. If you dont want that get a spyder compact, Its easy to trick out. go to kingmans web site to check it out.

get an Emigma EXR, they say there 250 on the site here, but you can get them for 200 at http://www.bargianpaintball.com , they look sweet as hell, and everyone says they shoot better than spyders and piranhas

I say a 98 Custom. But if yor interested in Spyders, I would look at Diablo's new Paradox. They are made by the previous company that milled the bodys and other parts for Kingman. They cost around $100 and accepts all Spyder upgrades. The Paradox comes standard with rear cocking venturi bolt, decent barrel(look like a DYE aluminum), low pressure chamber, bottomline, thumb velocity adjuster, quick strip pin, and all aluminum double trigger 45 frame. They also use a Auto Cocker ball detent insted of the rubber nubben that the Spyder & Piranha uses. It's pretty much a Spyder with better body milling, smooth anodizing, & a better price, with all the features.

tl+ is the way to go. especially at bbt.com. i got mine at a 140 and any mask at half price. its great since it is very reliable, pretty good gas efficiency, and already has an ok xpansion chamber. all in all, go for the spyder since Tippmanns need a new barrel immediately and the only great ones are above 80$ (flatline, AA...) never seen a paradox though. if they come with all that, they should do some advertisin in APG, would get a lot of customers. haven't see it at any conventions either... maybe it just came out...

Hmm, well it depends. If you plan on "tricking out"/spending money on this entry-level gun then I would say a spyder or tippmann. On the other hand, "stock/as is" the core sharc is THE BEST STOCK entry gun out there. I tried them all, TL, shutter, piranha, some tricked compacts, some not. If you want to buy a gun that will perform well outta the box and won't leave you wanting more (yeah you will want to buy an autococker or something) then the core sharc is IMHO the best out there. You wont even need to spend money on an aftermarket barrel. I would compare the barrel on the core to maybe a 32* terminator barrel. Not that the 32* terminator is all that great, but it's better than the crappy pipes that come on similarly priced guns (yeah like the TL and the shutter). It has a nice big volumizer, and a 4 stage expansion chamber. I have personally tried to chopp paint by shooting as fast as I could (holding gun with the left and tapping the trigger as fast as I could) and it would not chop with proball paint and the expansion would do it's job well. I tried it with crappy seconds and it would chop on occasion. Also, the trigger pull on it is much smoother than on spyders. The gun is also really light compared to spyders, it's usually the first thing ppl notice. It also has flush rear cocking, so you wont get popped in the mask/ no need for beavertail.
bad-
grips are a bother if you dont use gloves(as if you wouldn't buy stickies.
A spring in the grip(firing mech) that is too tight and likes to break, but when you replace it it wont anymore. I had this problem, my brother had this problem, and I heard of other ppl on the forum having the problem.
Some ppl complain about the grip not being metal. Well, it's durable, and it contributes to the guns light weight. The autococker does not come with a metal grip. Not such a big deal.
Hope that helps.

Easily the best entry marker is the Custom 98. I play with my Black Magic now, but I will always love my custom a little more. They are absolutely the most reliable gun in paintball. I can outshoot a spyder anyday. Plus, even if anything goes wrong I can send the gun to Tippmann and they will replace everything that is wrong for a really low price. No question go with the 98.

Ok.......This is just a suggestion and i might get flamed for this but i would stay away from tippman. They are heavy, not very compact even with the stock 9 in barrel, also what was tippman thinking when they did that little button where you hit it and the hopper and stuff flops over.......it has a funny feeling to it. I would say get a Spyder. Kingman is a VERY good company. I would say get an Xtra you WILL NOT regret it trust me. They are very nice. Comes with nice grips, vertical feed, and a drop forward. I also like the cocking rod. Its nice. After you get going a little bit slap you a barrel and 9 vt revvy on. But first things first. I strongly suggest the Spyder xtra. And oh yeah they now come in blue instead of just green and the new blue ones come with stainless steel hose. Xtra also require low maintence. Just a few drops of oil in the asa and fire it and a drop or two on the bolt.

You cant beat the value of the Piranha STS VF G3, only $135 at paintballgear.com right now. It has vertical feed, a gas thru fore-grip & rear flush cocking. The Ram Air chamber is particularly cool. It takes Spyder barrels, and (unlike the Spyder) standard hoseline and bottomlines. Might want to consider this puppy, and use the money you save on a good mask!

Tippmann 98 custom.
You can REALLY trick them out alot. good rate of fire when you upgrade it. Very durable unlike the spider,(thats why most fields have them as rentals so the n00bs dont break it so easily). the first upgrade to get is a barrel then X-chamber. then maybey a double trigger, drop forward, revy and that stuff. Then go low pressure or Electro.

The enigma by far beats the pirrahna and any spyder you can come across. There r several types of enigmas but the best one for under that price is the EXC. Find it at http://www.bargainpaintball.com/home.html

You guys gotta be kidding me with all this Enigma EXR crap. the Spyder Shutter (same thing as a Enigma - but the first tricked out stacked tube blow back design) is like $220 and cheaper.. BUT you those of you who would like to shoot a better designed gun, try getting a Spyder Xrta they have a vertical feed that will let you get used to shooting a vert feed gun, in case you want to move up to an electro with a vert feed (most do have that)
