I've heard mixed thoughts on the Omen. Some say it is a bad design and PMI needs to rework it. Others say it is the best electro in the $500 range. Also, is it electropneumatic or electromechanical(sear tripper)? How close a resemblance to the autococker is it?

electromechanical, It IS the best Gun for $500 but of course as any gun, it can and will be improved further. The Only thing the Omen and a cocker have in comen is that they are closed bolt and the threads, thats it. Go to PBnation and take a look at the animation we have in the stickie.

as spartan said there is an annimation over at PBnation that is the operation of the Omen. you will be able to see the diffrence pretty easily. I'll even make it easy for you. http://pbnation.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=370537

i agree it is the best gun under $500 and also as it's not considered a "high end" there will always be room for improvment. the Omen is a upper mid level gun that when we get some proformance modifications this marker will be considered a high end marker.

I really don't think it's the best gun under $500, especially considering you can get a fully ULE RT Custom for $429 (X-valve, ULE, single trigger, RT Pro parts, brand new), straight from AGD.

And the Omen is merely a blowback w/ some extra parts so that it is closed bolt. :| Just slows down the overall cyclic speed since it's 3-part, not 2-part (like an ordinary spyder or piranha), and it has some problems.

It has fairly good parts, nice reg, etc... but I would say that it needs improvement.

everyone who says its a "spyder" (wich it is a blow back so they are very similar) forgets to mention it has a lot less kick than a normal blowback due to the adjustable re-cock pressure.

I didn't say it was a "spyder."

I said that it is merely a blowback.

And "spyders" with regs have adjustable re-cock pressure to. ;)

Lot less kick? :| Not when you're comparing a blowback with a reg, and some higher flowing parts (about $500 spyder) to the Omen. Then they're about the same.

oh well, my omen is sexier;) i'm gonna get something high end sometime this year when i get a job or magically get money. then obviously the omen with be nothing compared to what i decide to get (trix, timmy, angel, viking)

Actually, spyders don't have adjsutable recock, they have adjustable pressure. When you adjust the pressure going into a spyder, it's restricting the pressure that recocks the gun AND goes to the ball. On an omen, the regulator lets in so much air and the adjustable recock only allows a little bit of that air to recock the gun while the rest goes to the ball, a little more efficient set-up.

And The omen definetly has a lot less kick then a decently upgraded spyder, how would i know? I owned one. I invested something around 400-450 into my spyder, and although the kick was reduced after shooting my omen the spyders kick seems tremendous. Not that either are bad....both are manageable, just saying the omens got a tad less.

Touche ;)

Though I still have to disagree with you on the kick issue.... I haven't held them side by side and shot them. And a Spyder/Piranha w/ $500 into it can be about 400 different things.

And at any rate, my Emag has less kick, so there. :paranoid:

Bourne...shut up, lol. Just because your E-mag is better doesn't mean anything...ok, ok, it does. Wait until I have the money to get something, you'll see. The question is, what to get.

Hey Bourne, guess what> you know dave up-above and on pbnation? He rigged it to a flush cocking system, now his Omen has less kick then my Viking, thats less kick then my X-mag had......So less then your e-mag.

That 15* asa he's making is nice! Held it and shot his Omen today, very cool.

:( Hmm...

Still don't know how that would be possible, since the Emag has less cyclic mass and MORE mass.

By the way, my Emag has less kick that your X-mag, because it weighs over 1lb more, (if not more w/ my warp feed ;) )

Still though, that's quite interesting.

How did he make it flush cocking? Is there a thread about it somewhere on pbn?

yea there's a thread, he just modded out the bolt and the pin it's connected to, a rather simple mod, but ingeneous none the less.
