Ok i am a newbie (kinda) i have played paintball before but i have played with borrowed guns. So i am about to get a gun and equipment for myself. I have a dillema. I have a choice i can buy a PMI Pirana complete with everything i need mask tank CO2 cartridge it comes with everything but paintballs. But my friend has that gun and has had some problems like his CO2 cord leaking. so that is one choice. My other is a tippman 98 custom i have no expierience with those kind but i heard they are good. The problem is if i get the Tippmann i have to buy all the other stuff seprate. What should i get? the PMI pirana or the Tippmann 98 custom
PMI marker, they are reliable and if you have everything set up right, there will be no problems. Plus your getting everything with the deal, and your buying it from a friend.

Costom 98, is a great gun, my friend has one with, rt ant nitro.
But if you getting it from a friend do it, but test it first otherwise your friend could screw you over.
(98's are good but they are expensive to upgrade, as a newby)

Talk to your local shop and ask if they can get in a Tippmann Power pack. It comes with everything you need but paint as well.

Alright, the custom 98 is a great reliable, upgradable gun. But so is the pirahana. I would go with the pirhana, so you can upgrade different barrels and stuff. But, you should take a serious look at the custom too. Very very reliable... And very upgradable, both are great, and either decision is a good one. :D

Raptors are also great unless you get a messed up one. I just put a new barrel on mine and it shot straight as an arrow. Its also very easy to fix and easy to upgrade. I am thinkin about buyin a cocker so I might sell mine. If interested email me stevie72@crosswinds.net

Hey everyone thanks for your help. I have not yet bought my marker because i am still undecided. I have just looked up the Tippmann power pack. I can buy it for 164$ and it comes with everything but paintballs. Same as the PMI Pirana except this Tippmann is new. So now should i get the Tippmann or Pirana? Thank you all for replying. I value your opinions and your help. And I am looking forward to your opinion on this change of price.:blah:

If you're worried about the PMI gun leaking, you can always go the Kingman route and get a Spyder. I loaned my Shutter to a newbie who shot SAND through the gun and after cleaning it, it works good as new. A shutter packacge will run you approximatly $250, though if you go the TLPlus route you can get your package for about $150. I myself love the Kingmans, and they have some awesome accessories. The last Spyder you should look into is the Xtra. Has a vert feed and dual sight rail along with drop forward, LP, and exp chamber. It's like $20 more than the TLplus. Spyders are great guns in my experiance. Let me add that I have not had a SINGLE problem with my gun, with the exception of the time I tried to go Low Pressure without a new valve. Then the gun burped on HPA, but that's my own fault. I haven't broken one ball, chopped one ball, or outrun my 9V revvy. Just my experiance and reccomendation. Oh, and upgrades for Spyders come a lot cheaper than M98 upgrades. There's probably more of them too.

Kingman doesn't do so well in stats like Washington, Oregon, Idaho, parts of California.... My raptor worked much better then my spyder... If you in a state with similar climate as these I suggest a Tippman.

Stick with the Tippmann. You can't go wrong. Good luck in your future playing!!

"Oh a diversion why didn't you just say so?" :)
"Uh Oh!"
"What's the matter?"

Check out www.p8ntballer.com then in the left hand column, under techroom, click markers. Next go to the under $300 column and click on both the piranha G2 and the spyder reviews (there are two piranha reviews and five spyder reviews). Make your decision based on the info there, the advice you recieved here and any other reviews you can find on these markers. IMHO the spyders seem to rate out decently and many people love them but I read a lot of reviews and a common thing that keeps coming up is the fit and finish of the spyder is just not quite up to the level of the piranha. Another major factor is that I just like the subtle diferences in the styling of the piranha better. Plus I got the deal of a lifetime on my piranha pro.
I hope I've helped provide good clear info for you
BTW I really didn't do any research on the tippmans because I didn't like the looks and was pretty sure that I wasn't going to get one
