OK so on my impy my my hammer seems to be worn down a little and i am not getting the best ari efficiency. Sooo i was wondering what is the best hammer/ram system i should get. i would like to get great air efficiency cause i only get around 800 shots worth my 68/4500 and i just wanted to know what to get(oh yeah everything else on my gun is upgraded except for the ram and valve i believe)

The ND Rip Valve would really help efficiency, and im guessing you have an LPR? As far as hammers, go with a Rat SS. SP LPR + Rat SS Hammer + ND Rip valve, will get you about the best efficiency with an impulse. (As long as you have it set up right)

I agree if you want something that will upgrade your hammer/shaft then get this http://www.paintballgear.net/011-8000-626.html

buying the new designz hammer assembly would be a great idea ( http://www.paintballgear.net/011-8000-626.html ). if you do, though, be sure to buy a titanium bolt pin and flush/5" new designz bolt or voodoo bolt also or your gun's efficiency will suffer.

Well i stubby bolt that is super light and i ahve a titanium pull pin. My gun right now is running at 170 psi but i do not know what the dwell is set at but i will have a good friend of mine at a pb shop help me out with that. Well anymore suggestions?

buy a brass hammer if you have a stubby. get you friend to raise your dwell and lower your opperating pressure to 130psi. do you have an lpr?

if you have a stubby bolt buy a brass hammer and silk shot ram. if you have an lpr, and you do, it'll help alot to buy an evil valve or rip valve (rip is much much better-you'll get 150+ shot extra). for help setting your lpr, go to http://www.kamworld.net/paintball/ImpulseFAQ_Technical.html#T24 for the way to do it prefectly.

The best ram available on the market is the NewDesignz Slick Shot Ram Shaft. There are no other rams that can match it.

The Ying to it's Yang is the SS Rat Hole hammer. It provides a very good weight match.

Just make sure you shop around for the best price.:wink3:

OK-- some very bad infromation has been offered in this thread (along with some very good)

First, if you wnat efficency, TUNNING is the most important thing. it has been suggested that you run at 130 psi in other posts-- not a good idea for efficency.

In general, the Impulse will run more efficent at higher pressures. from experince, I would suggest that most guns run best around 180 PSI and the dwell neccessary to get your veloicity range.

The biggest value of an LPR is its ability to let you run your Valve pressure at high values and the solenoid at mor normal pressures. Most setups will run very well with the input pressure around 200 and the the LPR set arond 150.

The LPR by its self does NOTHING for efficency. If I run a gun with LPR at 130 psi input, I'll get the same poor shot count I get from the same gun run at 130 psi without the LPR. If, on the other hand I run the input up to 200, the LPR to about 150, and drop the dwell to get the veloicity range I want, I will get a LOT more efficency then the same gun runing at 130 psi.

It has also been suggested to use a Brass hammer with a slik shaft. The slick shaft is heiver then a stock shaft (to reduce interal volume) if you combine that with a brass hammer (which is very heavy) you will almost certanily end up with a set up the is "too heavy". (lots of recoil and actuly a slower rate of fire)

The best weight range for a delrin bolt epquiped gun will normaly be a combiantion of the slick shaft and rathole hammer.

also please be aware that many times the effect of mods is not adiditive. that is is mod A gives a 10% increese in shot count, and Mod B gives a 15% increese in shot count, having BOTH mad A and Mod B will ver seldom give you a 25% increese in shot count-- more offen A+B will give you only verry slightly more then one of them alone would-- maybe a 17% total instead of 25%

Hope this helps a little
