two barrelish ?s

1) can barrels rust? If yea, how can i prevent it?
2) is my stock spyder TL+ barrel for my friends stock JT 3.0 excellerator a good trade?

Aluminum doesn't rust & neither does stainless steel. Most barrels are made of one of these 2, there are some exceptions of course older brass barrels which can tarnish, carbon fiber (I've never used one so I'm not sure if its all carbin fiber, or impregnated w/ fiber or something else).

The carbon fibers have ss or alum backs and a carbon fiber front that has a teflon coating inside the cf part. And yes the whole front of the barrel is carbon fiber it's not just carbon fiber coated. And they are extreamly light.

I knew that the backs were carbon fiber, wasn't too sure how they were working the front of the barrel.
I had a friend who had one for all of 2 weeks. Thanks for the info :D

If I remember chemistry class correctly(wich I rarely do), Iron is the only thing that can rust.

as for TL vs 3.0.. Have u shot his gun before? Make sure its not a POS. Im getting a 4.0 soon and I think it will be great...

I did a lil thing comparing the 3.0 and 4.0 for myself... and just was looking for somewhere to post it... :D

almost everything rusts when iron rusts it gets iron oxide on it

when aluminum ruts it is alumium oxide
stainless stell cna rust but it is extremly hard for it to happen

also he doesnt want to decide between the guns to trade he wants to decide aon a stock barrel switch

the stock barrel for the 3.0 is a one piece version of the jt two peice (an excelent barrel) do it!!! ps your friend is a sh*** head.

ya, just about everything can rust, rust is just oxidization of a material. in truth, stainless steel does rust, but it rusts so evenly that it can only do it like one atom thick, it cant rust through. and a stock barrel switch? sure why not, just dont count on it to improve anything, almost all stock barrels are crap cause they know your gonna upgrade it so they dont waste money on somehting your gonna (should) replace.
