View Full Version : Rt=e-grip=tourny
Is it possible to have both an e-grip and an RT in the same grip . I would like to know becouse I cannot go into tournies with the RT . But can i go into tournies if the RT is turned to were it does not even react . I can make it to where I get no response no matter what i do , just a basic trigger pull . If i did that , would i then be able to go into a tourny . If i cant my next option is to just get an e-grip which might be more convenient if i could get it in the same grip .

it depends on the rules of the ppl hosting a tournament. In most cases, RT cannot be used in tournament play. Some may make you just put in the shut off screw that comes with the kit = no trigger response, OR- they may make you unintall it. Hopefully the former rather than the latter. That is why I kept ALL of my stock stuff (ie powertube, sear spring, etc.).
I dont know about tournaments with the egrip, but I think you have to turn it off auto as well.
I dont think that you can have both an RT and Egrip, because the board will sit in the place where the piston of the RT would go. Someone correct me if and I am wrong, like I said dont know much about Egrip.
Getting an egrip is a bit more expensive than the RT, but you may like it better when it comes to tourneys. you dont wanna practice w/ an RT and then have to shut it off in a tournament do you? It is all preference really.

Don't get dependent on something you can't always use. If you're getting into tournys get the egrip over the rt. Egrip on semi will be allowed in all tournys and is the best firepower upgrade for the a5. If you always play with egrip (semi), you will never learn to rely on the sweetspotting capability of the rt, and you never want to rely on something that's not permanent.
Well I already have the RT installed . So what can I do with out a disasemble on my marker . I dont want an e-grip and I like my RT . So please explain in detail of what i can do , Any info would be appreciated

The R/T should come with something to plug where the R/T hose goes into the valve so it won't use the R/T.

Look at the R/T instructions. It tells how to plug it. If you don't have them they're on the site.

yes, the rt kit is supposed to come with a shut off screw. I am pretty sure you have to remove the flow adjuster assembly and put the shut off screw where on the threads coming off of the power tube. If you bought your marker w/ an RT installed already, I am not sure if you have it. visit the tippmann site and shoot them an email if you have to. they usually are somewhat fast with their response.
Well i checked my manual and what was left over from my instalation . Nothing . no screw no nothing . Anything else you have in mind .

for the money you pay for the egrip u could have an 03 bushy bko or other true electro gun. its not worth it. not to mention with any electronic or pneumatic upgrade on a blowback marker the bolt is gonna take a lot of wear and tear...not to mention the viberation on the screws! (lots of loctite my fiend)
so its not really worth it.
Good Luck!

Vibration of the screws?
Thx, my E-gripped A5 has put out 10000+ shots, the sear is fine, and the screws do NOT need loctite. Maybe you dunked your A5 in water. Therefore, YOU are an exceptionality!

Ok now, Duey...What exactly are you asking? Do you want to know if you can, in a sense, "turn off" your RT? If thats what you need then, all you have to do is get the little tiny screw that came with the RT kit which is meant to act as a plug and replace the little hosey majigy on the side with that screw...What you have to do is uncrew the hose on the side (The RT hose not the Cyclone Feed hose) and put that tiny plug screw where the hose screws into the valve. This renders your RT usless and now you have your original, semi-auto A-5. Your welcome:P .

My A-5 came with the Response trigger and I have NO idea how to set it....
Mine works just like a semi-auto...
I got it from paintballtrader.com.....
The guy (Sam) is so slow at answering e-mails, so I still don't know how to use it.....
I guess it is probably best that it is set like it is, since I'm still new to paintballing.....
Once I learn a bit more and get better, I think I'll set it. :)

No way!
I'm thinking of getting an Angel, but I'm not selling my A-5.
I love the Flatline barrel.
Everyone that I play with has Spyders and 1 Custom 98.....
I don't need to upgrade just yet..... :)

I know this has nothing to do with anything, but are the TES's worth the money. I thought about that they are just blowback like an A-5, so how could they be so much better?
