Well I have narrowed it down to the two guns I want. One problem. I can't decide which one is better then the other in these things below:
accuracy
weight
Co2 hog or not
----------------------------
May some one help? Please?

basically they're the exact same thing except the beaver tail is a little different on the Xtra and the Xtra has a Vert feed. If you have the money for the cash for the Xtra then go for it.

i have a tl plus, but if i were you id get the xtra. they are the same gun, the only difference really is the vert feed and air line. yes vert feed is better supposedly, it should be able to put balls into the gun faster. as for field strippability, theyre both the same.

I have an Xtra and it's been very nice so far...with my upgrades. My xtra actaully ran around 500psi stock...that's what the expert at a retailer said. Most guns..including the TL+ runs around 800psi stock. Which makes the Xtra alot more effecient on gas. Both guns are easily upgradable if you eventually want to go Low Pressure. But on teh accuracy....all semi automatic guns are simaliar in accuracy. Doesn't matter if it's a Xtra..or a nice Autococker...they all have the same accuracy. Remember, the only thing that effects accuracy and range is how fast a paintball is shot..and how heavy the paintball is. All paintball guns must shoot at 285fps and all paintballs are generally the same weight..therefore if a paintball is shot from a Xtra..a Pirahna...or a nice expensive autococker..you will get the same accuracy and range. But a nice new barrel might make your gun more accurate because of it's better porting and finishing. So on the accuracy note....go get a nice barrel.

Cant forget about the Lp setups ;)..IT will improve a little bit on accuracy and alot on quietness.

Ok a few things. I find it hard to believe that the extra runs 300psi below that of the TL+. They are essentially the same gun. I'm not quite sure what the standard pressure is on a spyder but I would asume it's somewhere between 500psi and 700psi. Maybe someone could post the exact pressures. Lower pressure has absolutly nothing to do with gas efficiency. Yes a lower pressure gun will be much softer on paint, and will give you an accuracy boost by putting less turbulance behind the bolt, but no that doesn't mean it will be more efficient.

Accuracy will always be the same? What are you smoking? I'm not trying to flame you but why do you think everybody upgrades their barrel. Is it because they like the new shiny barrels? Tell me if i'm wrong but don't you kind of contradict yourself by saying all semi's are the same in accuracy and then say that a barrel will increase your accuracy. I thought all semi's are the same in accuracy. Truth is accuracy varies from gun to gun. setup to setup, every gun is different. Range on the other hand will be the same no matter what gun your shooting (excluding those guns such as the tipy flatline and zbody mag which put spin on the ball). 2 balls flying at 300fps will land in the same spot (distance wise) asuming the only variable is the type of marker shooting the balls.

If I were you I would get a compact and avoid the replacing of parts that are sub-par in the long run.

Compact2k: $85
CP Barrel: $30-50
Used WGP reg $20
Macro Line Kit $10-15
DIY Trigger job: Free
DIY FreeFlowing Valve pin mod: Free

Vert feeds are nice and should improve your ability to not chop balls at high speeds. However, you probably won't see much of a difference in the spyder series of guns without a hyperframe or the like. They seam to be just for looks. If you want a Vert feed spyder type gun I would look at the Bob Long Millennium. They are a tad more expensive than the xtra but you don't have to fumbel with that dam straight elbow, you get a better barrel stock and a better grip frame. Of course these are just my oppinions, and your not gonna get screwed by getting either the xtra of the tl+, they are both good guns that will last you a long time! Enjoy

Actually, I'm using a Hyperframe and a powerfeed at the moment with a 12 volt Revolution. No chops yet, and yes, I'm shooting pretty damn quickly. :D The reason why Xtras can run at a lower pressure is due to how Kingman made them. Their vertical adapters have two larger holes drilled into them, rather than one tiny hole in the other models. The valve is also slightly higher flowing. It's your choice which model of a Spyder you want. They're essentially the same. The Xtra has the fast vertical feed, and the TL+ has the ability to stop the flow of balls.

Thanks for the info Hsuve :D so they kinda made the mod of drilling out your VA on the gun standard. I thought they were exactly the same as the tl+ series just with slightly different looks and the vert feed.

On another note how much did you pay for that hyperframe and have you had any probs with it? I hear centerflag is making them for cockers now. I'm planning on getting a cocker in the near future and a hyperframe for it would kick some ***!

I bought it used for $150. Perfect condition as well. ;) I'd say that it's well worth the money, but I wouldn't bother getting one for a 'Cocker... No problems with it so far, and I don't think I will be having any problems anytime soon, but you'll never know... :( It only has semi (A disappointment for those firing mode freaks :D), and is more than the standard Hyperframe, I think...

the tl and the xtra are both awesome markers. the tl is good because
1) its comfortable and relaible
2) its set at good price in most place
3) i don't consider it a c02 hog but thats my personal oppinon
4)its made by spyder so your mostdefinetly on the right track

on the other hand the xtra is good because
1) it is good looking
2 is got a nice feel it is also not a gas (i know personaly because i own one)
3)it is easy to up grade but on the other doesn't really need much
4)its relitively enexspensive
5) ITS JUST SO FREAKING AWESOME

here is my oppinon one both good luck on your quest

p.s. do your research before you buy

Another thing. The extra will shoot about 5 bps with out any missfeed or chop....... Me and my bro tested that out. thats the only reason he hasn't bought a agitated hopper. he has no need. His fingers are not quite fast enough.

Get the Tl+
If you get the xtra it on;y comes in one color and if you want a new barrel it will look bad. if i were you i would get the TL+ i have one and it is the best gun i hve had out of: Auto mags, Cockers, PMI, of course my Tl+ is tricked out.:)

Yes...get the tl+ becuase the xtra looks bad with aftermarket barrels

Their both nice...can't go wrong

Dye SS/Lapco SS look good on everything, no matter what color the guns are.

i have a few questions i hope will be answered about these guns.
first off, is the expansion chamber a pos, should you buy a replacement one? and does the Xtra only come in that ugly *** green? it sticks out like a sore thumb when hiding i bet

tricked_Tl+- My Xtra looks great with my Dye SS on it.

davkad- The expansion chamber actually works pretty good for how small it is. I wouldn't bother upgrading it unless you get a reg or play in cold climates. And another thing, the green color on the Xtra conceals pretty well in woods or anywhere. It definately conceals better than a black or silver marker.

Back on topic now...The Xtra and TL are almost the same marker aside from the vertical and powerfeed. It is purely preference on which you choose.
