Ok guys, I got my Lapco BigShot for my m98 today and I have checked all the bore size charts and barrel charts and such and I was wanting to know what paintballs you guys have ahd success with in this barrel? I tried my Diablo Dusks in it and quite frankly they sucked hard...went about 20ft and the dropped, or curved, and the paint charts I have seen say this is a good match for the BigShot. The Dusk's work great in my Flatline, so I was hoping I could get lucky and have one brand of paint in my gear...no luck there. I've heard nothin but good stuff about the BigShot and I guess I need a better paint/barrel match than the Dusks provide. I have heard that PMI Premiums are a good match, but I'd like some confirmation before I go buy a case, cuz if it doesnt work good in the BigShot I'll be stuck with them...cuz I know PMI Premiums dont go with the flatline good. Anyways, all you big shot owners give me your paintball recommendations please!

Zap Spank.

Yeah yeah, cheap paint. But damn good cheap paint! They touch the bigshot at a good 3-4 points on the barrel, easy blow through, and at 280fps, they've got an awesome dart flight line. I've basically refused to put anything else through these barrels.

Edit: Basically any Zap paint has went through this barrel well. I tried some WGP Worr Paint and it busted like crazy, but that might be my marker (VTL) PMI Big Balls work well too. Other than Worr Paint and All Stars, everything has worked fine with this barrel.

Edit Edit: Well, second day of a three day pb spree, and Draxxus Midnight's were my only choice. Really nice paint, but they will roll through your bigshot. However, didn't have any real problems with them, the ones that broke were in the barrel and not the breach (thank god) But so far, Spank'sre in the lead for me. Might have some info on how some Nelson paints work tommorow.

Edit Edit Edit: Nelson Challenger sucks.

it isn't. if you were using a .693 back with say a .686 paint, then there would be problems. but if you're using a .691 back and a .689 paint, there won't be a difference. since most paint is .689 or there abouts, a .691 back is a good choice for an open bolt marker. you don't HAVE to be small bore paint either, there are plenty of options.

you just said it isnt important and then proved it was.

everyone knows that the bore size for paintballs is not the same for every paintball in the pack, but on average.

Paint to barrel match does matter, but it doesnt have to be a .689 barrel bore with a .689 paintball bore. like shadow said, paintballs vary in size and shape, but the closer you match the paint to the barrel bore...the better performance.

bigshot is not that picky w/ paint though. I havent tried dusk in mine, but now that i read this, I prolly wont. I would think that spank, marbs, evil, premiums, all stars, blaze, midnight, or any other medium bore balls will do fine. So, dusk is not a good match, big deal. use other paint. you dont have to buy a whole case to try premiums.

Use common sense here. If you're using a huge bored barrel and a tiny paint, you'll have problems. If you're paint is bigger than your barrel you'll have problems. Other than that it doesn't matter (ie: .689 paint with a .691 barrel).

you use common sense, I just gave you credit for what you said. i totally agree with it. I didnt say I disagree, but paint to barrel match does matter. It just doesnt have to be matched up from the chart. even after reading my post for the second time, I still dont see why you think I was disagreeing with you.

i was in a rush and only read the part where you said that i said it wasn't important but proved myself wrong. sorry about that.

In the cold weather I'm finding Draxxus Midnight to be inaccurate in my Bigshot. the paint has shrunk to the .679 range. Diablo(I don't know what , the box case that was $35- delivered and it dosen't say) is much more accurate but it's breaikng in the barrel like a mother, even in some Freaks. It too is much osmall after being out in the cold. I'm going to have to try a smaller barrel. I got cases of Midnight at home, too much to waste.

freaks break a lot of paint anyway. esp is you use small bore inserts. if youre having problems with paint because of cold weather, try paintballs made for colder weather.

Freaks on occasion have been known to break paint if you play around with the inserts to much..etc
best away around any chopping with a freak is SS inserts and cold weather paint if your playing in the cold.

for the bigshot i like shooting any medium bore paint, mostly spank becuse its cheap and shoots well

MY freak breaks a lot. I broke more than five marbs per hopper full. To me that is a lot. My bigshot has not broke a single ball yet. and I havent even put good paint through it.

I wanna try spank, Im thinking about ordering 3 cases from pbgear.com to get free shipping. HAHA 75lbs of freight for free. hahaha. thats what they get for screwing me over on a freak back return that I didnt use. They charged me a restock fee and said that I scratched the threads when I screwed it into my marker. thing is I never screwed it into my marker. I never even took it out of the pack.

I've never had problems like that with my Freak. I like it.

So basicaly you guys are saying that buying a smaller bore barrel, which would be quite expensive, wouldn't solve the frozen/small paint problem and that I should just wait out the weather? I keep hearing that so-called cold weather paint is a marketing gimmick.,

is yours on a model 98 or an intimidator?

I will correct myself. model 98 Freaks break paint often.
More than I am used to.
