Ok. So all I have is a Spyder Shutter. $200 blowback. Not an Angel, cocker, or even Impy, but dammit, I love that thing. I bought it with my own money and none of my parent's assitence. I maintained, cleaned, and oiled the thing whenever I played, before and after games, and when I had nothhing else to do. A beautiful JJ ceramic on it and currently running HPA.......to me, I could care less if I had something that shoots faster than the Roadrunner on heroin. And so, to entice a newbie (first time playing), I allowed him to borrow it for a game. Handed it to him, turned on the Revvy and said "one pull one shot." End of the game, I got it back. The bolt would not recock as a result of sand being in the reciever. The barrel looked worse than one of those Ramrod ads. Sand, paint goo, everything. The hopper looked like dirt had been poured into it. I almost killed the stupid newbie. Here's the ensuing conversation.

"ALL RIGHT, WHO DID I LOAN THIS GUN TO?"
"I think your dad used it."
"MY DAD HAS HIS OWN GUN!"
"Oh....uh....I guess I used it then."
"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO IT?"
"Nuthin."
"THEN WHERE THE HELL DID ALL THIS DIRT COME FROM? DIRT IN THE BARREL, BOLT, RECEIVER.....I HOPE TO GOD IT DIDN'T GET TO THE VALVE!"
"I dunno."
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW YOU ****ING LIAR?! HOW DID THIS DIRT GET IN MY GUN?"
"I dunno."

Turns out, by realizing that there waws dirt in the hopper, I quickly located the problem. He had apparently not only spilled about $8 worth of paint, but picked it all up, made NO effort to clean it off and ran sand through my gun! Now I know it's only a Spyder but it's MY Spyder. MY baby. Which has taken very good care of me. It's people like this, so inconsiderate and stupid that ruin the sport of paintball. You try and be nice to them and they treat your equipment like crap. He says he "didn't know you couldn't do that." I told him it was pretty damn obvious that you don't run sand through a paintball gun. He said "Yeah....well....sorry man...and proceeded to WALK OFF!"
The lesson here is:
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, LOAN YOUR GUN TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT. I figured this kid could handle a simple blowback semi. There was no WAY he could screw it up. AND HE POURS SAND DOWN MY HOPPER?! I spent over an hour and a hlaf meticulously cleaning every piece of my gun. It wouldn't have been so bad except he had FIRED it enough times to make the receiver look like a freakin beach!
One thing I will say for that JJ. The shop owner was real nice and cleaned it out.....not a SCRATCH on it. After cleaning out the gun I tried it out. It performed same ol', same ol'. Good ol' Kingman. JJ makes some good stuff and the next time someone tells me Kingman makes crap, I'm gonna tell them to read this post.
Anyway, aside from a few internal scratches, my baby is back in action.
I can't believe I was so stupid as to do this. Do not make the same mistake guys!

I'd Tell the Punk, Buy ur own ****en spyder! NEVER EVER EVER NEVER LET SOMEONE BORROW YOU STUFF. It reminds me of a kid in my neighborhood who was moving in a week, so I let him borrow it for 6 days, and he gave it back in the case. I took it inside my house, and the case was glued. It took me 3 hours to open it, but when I did, I found the game in shatters(my poor Final Fantasy Tactics). By that time, I was so ticked, I walked to his house, and wanted to eat his head off. BUT BY THAT TIME, HE WAS ALREADY HALFWAY GONE TO FLORIDA!!! I WANTED TO FLY A B52 OVER HIS TOYOTA, AND DROP A BOMB ON HIM!!! ARRGH! I WAS SO P.O.ED!

I seriously considered tying him to the front of my car like a dead deer and driving him to some desolate location out here in the South Carolina woods where I would leave him. For good. Heck, if he begged, I might give him a BE Talon for protection against bears.

Thats why i dont let newbies touch my guns.... One time i gave my raptor to a newbie my raptor was pretty new it had an expansion chamber and a nyte stick and i just finished making it rear cocking. Anyway i give it to him to use he brings it back with the brand new cocking rod missing and the gun is shooting out co2. dumb newbies
He says i cocked it but the rod just got in the way so i took it out........... so icalled him names and ran off into the field looking for my rod.

If they don't own their own marker, don't even let them look at it funny. I would never loan out my bushy, unless i was trading guns for a game, like a cocker or somthing.

Best of luck!

Oh...wait...he was a newbie...what did you expect...paint laying on the ground looks enticing...lolz

First time he ever played, and he returns it with paint all in it. Not that I care, i can just clean it out. I mean it was his first time anyway so I didnt really matter. I wouldnt recommend lending a gun a newbie though.

i let my friend borrow my semi-tricked piranha (backup gun) last time i went paintballing. first game, he sprinted to the bunker, fell HARD, and the vert feed snapped off. i was pretty pissed, but he is like my best friend, so i told him not to worry about it. he also felt kinda bad though, and said if there was anything needed to be repaired for money, he would pay for it. but anyway, i only loan out my backup guns, backup backup guns, and backup backup backup guns, and only to my friends. :) . I let him shoot my mag, but not use it in a game...

hopefully pmi will fix the vert feed for free :|

first off this isnt to flame anyone!!!! now thats out of the way. man I just find it kinda amusing that you guys dont want to take your spyders on the field and I myself carry a black magic cocker out there. just your personality though. i dont usually ever wipe out though so it is ok. i mean my gun has never touched the ground and it wont. but yeah if my blacky got scratched up bad i would like die. i had a kid ask if he could use my gun in a game yesterday. the kid had to be like 12 and i think the setup of my gun weighs more than he did. i told him know but went with him to shoot it at the firing range. i told him then to ask his parents for one. maybe he could get lucky and not have to do what so many of us do by having to save all the time for paintball. i have played for 5 years now and my father hasdnt even payed for a niotro fill for me. and christmas yeah right never had anything paintball related then either. well you guys got to be tired of reading my jibber jabber so laters

Ive had a similar incident happen with me, except i didnt know the newbie WAS using my gun. Heres the story;

This happened a few months ago, before i got my B2K2.
My friend let me use his Dark Angel for a game, and a kid that came with a guy i knew was using a rental automag, and also wanted to play with the angel, and was poed that i was using it. Well, im at the 40 on the hyperball field and he slides in next to me, and i see him with MY piranha, and am totally mad, im about to ask him what the hell he was doing when a guy came around the side, taking him out, while i gog him. Game ends and i go give the angel back, and i find my gun, on the ground. I look it over to find everything GREEN, my paint by the way, which he used, without me knowing, and dirt all inside the internals, and barrel. I am madder than a hornet by now, and i walk up, start cussing him out and pushing him until he was saying it was MY FAULT! I told Kevin (owner) and he was kicked out of play for an hour. I go to take apart my gun when i realize that the cocking nob was SNAPPED. i took it apart while swearing, and yelling to find that my blue venturi bolt had streaks of silver, and seemed as if it was covered in slime from all the paint. I take everything out, clean it, re-clean it, oil it, and then im able to play. But of course i can, because i cant cock the gun. Luckily, the field rents piranhas and automag so i was able to get another for free. I go to the chrono station to find that my gun wouldnt shoot more than 20 feet. SOL for the entire day. I talked to the kids mom and she gave me $200.00 to fix my gun, which happened to come from the kids bank account. I sent the gun to pmi to get fixed and managed to save up enough for an impulse, which didnt work, so i took it back and got my B2K2 for an extra $100.00. The pirahna is still at pmi.

Sorry for the long post

Well geez....yeah, it was real stupid of me, but I figured there was no way he could possibly do something that stupid! I felt kinda bad for him too, since he was shooting a Jackal all day and had trouble with it all day and was really beginning to get mad at us guys with.....and I quote...."gatling guns". So I thought I'd let him play with it so he'd know what paintball is really supposed to be like.....you know, help a newbie out. It amazes me that he would be dumb enough to run sand through the whole thing. I was hoping my baby could do something good for paintball. As for not playing with my baby, let me say I have much the attitude of BlackMagicMan. My gun has never touched the ground or even seen any form of dirt until that day. I play hard with it, but if I slide, I let my body take it, not my gun, even if it does mean coming up with a bloody face. Anyway, it's all clean now. There are only a few scratches from the bolt rubbing the sand with the reciever since I keep the bolt well lubed. The rest of the wear in the receiver is normal, and the sand scratches aren't really noticable. And damn...JJ has their shizit together with barrels. I don't think I'll even think about another barrel........ok, so I have had adulterous thoughts about Equation's new barrel....but still....

:( Oh my god reading all that made me cringe, I couldalmost hear the sand grinding the internals. If some kid shot sand thru my Spyder I'd freak out majorly. I think it's even worse that the kid lied about the whole deal, I just hope it was from fear and not dishonesty.

Mind you, I can remember my very first game of paintball and how I picked up as many paintballs as I could see on the floor (but I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't seen other guys picking them up also). I remember I was in the dead zone, trying to get a swollen ball out of the elbow and praying a ref wouldn't ask what I was doing.

At the field where I play they warn the newbies about this in an intersting way, at the saftey brief the guy goes

"Out on the field you'll see lots of paibtballs lying around on the floor, for the love of god do not pick these up! If they were anygood to use the owner would have us out there all night with flashlights picking them up. If you do put one in, then it'll burst and you'd have wasted an enitre hopper of [expensive] paint."

It always seems to work, the newbies realise that 1 hopper of paint = much cash, and the marshalls realise that grit in the internals = much cleaning for them to do.

Another last thing, cool to hear that the Shutter is working still, who says that Tippmann's are the only ones that can take a beating?

So....do we have any punishments suggested for a 10 year old paintball playing liar? I'm leaning towards disembowlment.
