i'm sorry about posting another expansion chamber thread.:( :( the tippy 98's have a cvx valve that was desingned to handel freezing up (according to pb2x) so would there be really any advantage of getting an x chamber?? would it only save co2 ??

GO with the reg. Expansion chambers just arent worth it.

regs are for nitro and HPA. Good idea to use a x-chamber for co2 if you play in the really cold. Good to have if you dont even play in the cold.

get an anti siphon put in your tank

i don't want a reg. i just want to know what advantage an x chamber gives me(besides looking cool:rolleyes: ) i would get more shots per tank right? then it would be worth it right?

i heard you get a more consistent velocity and its more co2 efficient which is a plus since the m98 is a gas hog.
i got one i just need to install it its a b1tch to install thats why im going to send it to tippmann to get it installed

Many regs work very well for C02. I don't get why someone would rather have an expansion chamber over a reg.

What's the price difference between the 2? I'm a rec player and after I upgrade my barrel, I was thinking about the tippy Xchamber, but in trauma keeps talking anti-syphon (however, hes the only one i've ever heard mention that, no offence) but others say regulators. When I think about (however, I'm a noob) seems like if you are using CO2, you're gonna get more shots outta your tank using an xchamber rather than the regulator. But then again, I don't fully understand the principle of either device. Explanation of those 3 things and how they work would be greatly appreciated. Also, include an average price for each if possible.

Assassin, I'll try to explain the different parts and their functions. I'm a newbie too, so bear w/ me.

An X-chamber, short for expansion chamber, is a device that allows the CO2 gas to fully expand. See, sometimes (especially when you have a high rate of fire) liquid CO2 gets into your gun, which is generally a bad thing. The expansion chamber allows the liquid to expand to a gas, which is much more efficient.
An anti-siphon is a device in your tank that keeps liquid CO2 from being sucked (well, pushed actually) into your gun. I don't know how it works exactly, but my guess is that the opening is placed so that it isn't submerged in the liquid. BTW, don't use an anti-siphon with a remote line. That defeats the purpose of the anti-siphon.
A regulator does just that--it regulates the pressure from the source, in this case, a CO2/N2/HPA/LPA bottle. It is designed to keep the pressure inside your gun from spiking, which is another Bad Thing.

The only price I know off the top of my head is the price for a PsychoBallistics X-Core 8-stage Xchamber, and the MSRP for that is $16, which seems to be a good buy. Click here to learn more about it. (http://www.pbreview.com/876/1/0/)

I'm sure somebody will find something to nitpick about, so let me know, aight? I am always looking to learn more!

You forgot regs also do a very good job of keeping liquid C02 out of a marker. I know for a fact the palmer stab is known to be better at keeping liquid c02 out than any expansion chamber. The WGP reg i'm using on my marker has worked very well with c02 also, keeping most of the liquid out. A reg with an anti-siphon tube is a hard combo to beat.

Oops. Yeah, it's funny you should mention that, cuz I was just reading about the Palmer Stabilizer! Well, I've filed that one away and written it down in my notebook of future upgrades... :D

No problem, sorry if I came across as a bit harsh. I am just finishing up a paper that I shouldn't have waited this long on.:(
