I'm new to paintball, but who isn't when they start out? About what month does it start to got warm enough to play around here? I live in New Jersey if it matters.

It's going to be a while. I've decided to go indoors. For outdoor play you're going to have to wait untill like March-April for some decent weather. At least warm weather, not sure about dry.

Problem is that when it's 50 and in March/April, it's usually raining. :(

I haven't played paintball very long either, but it is to my understanding that the only problem with cold weather is the hard paintballs and your c02 tank. I live in rhode island and recently played a frozen lake game in 20 degree weather and my tippmann worked perfectly, even w/o exspansion chamber. I just hoped this would help.
