As most of you guys know I have the J & J grip and the grip is R/T compatable.

So basically I'm looking to get a R/T. Now here's my problem. I have no clue how to install it and Tippmann doesn't really have to many details on how to do it.

Should I get a used one or a new one?
What parts do I need since I already have the J & J grip?
How do you install it, like can I do it or should I take it to a proshop?

Thanx everyone.

hey Greedy! Gettin the RT eh? COol. you prolly already have seen this but it is a link to the instruction manual on the RT installation for the A5. http://www.tippmann.com/support/manual/a5rtmanual.pdf

The A5 RT is a little different than the 98C RT, so I dont have any hands on experience w/ it, but if you just follow the instructions, you should be able to accomplish it on your own. Its not hard, it took me about 30-40 minutes, and 12hrs or more to let the loctite dry. Ill bet you will be amazed w/ the RT, its fast. Some places dont allow it, but its easy to disguise since you can shoot semi auto until you get to the field. My field will allow it, but only 3 shot bursts.

Oh yeah, I recommend getting a new one, not a used one.

Actually I hadn't seen the manual. I don't have Adobe Acrobat at school or work so I can't view it. I wasn't sure if there was any drilling involved as I am not powertool savy.

Why new? Do used ones tend to wear out?

Thanx Yakitori, you know chicken on a stick rocks.

u shuld have no problems with the directions. The stickies say that the A5 r/t is easier to install than the m98 r/t. I have one on my A5 but i got it preinstalled. Ive looked at the instructions though and they are very comprehensible and show pictures almost every step i think. I would buy it new just becasue its new and u dont have to risk having any pieces missing from the sender.

There shouldnt be any drilling at all need. A proshop could install it. Around here the shop I go to installs all the products they sell. Buy a new one so you know all the pieces are there. Plus in my opinion brand new is better that old. Only buy used if you know and trust the guy selling. Look at the trigger to see if there is a punch hole in it. You know where, on the side with the cyclone feed. If not you may have to drill, but I highly doubt it. You could easily install it your self if you are familiar with the marker. The instuctions that come with the RT is very good and helpful.

I dont think you will have to drill. the 98C had a hole there that can be punched out easily with a hammer and a punch or screwdriver.

Yeah I'm sure it will. (SMPLBZ is jealous that my grips get more compliments than his entire marker, well with his old body at least).

Well thank everyone, I"ve found it for $80 cheapest new, that about right to spend? I figure I have to upgrade something so this is going to be my next project.

Thanx guys
