Is there any other way to chrono a paintball without an actually chronograph?

Have a friend shoot you with his gun at a certain speed (say 300) from like 25 or 50 feet a few times. After enough times you will know how much 300 hurts, then whenever you need chrony a gun just have them shoot at you and you can tell from how muhc more, or how much less it hurts whether it is above or below 300. :) It may not be effective for getting exact speeds, but it could tell whether the gun is firing hot or not. j/k

A handheld chrony sells for like $80. it is much cheaper and less painful (at least I think) than my above idea :)

what do you mean just kidding? that's what me and my friends do all the time to chrono our guns except we take our masks off and have people shoot us in the eye to see what the velocity is. that way you can see what 300 fps looks like too!

Theres really no way how to tell your velocity without a chrono.

there is a kind of way to sort of "eye" the speed or velocity of a paintball. you gotta measure out about 350 feet of open space...and have a friend (with goggles) stand at the 300 feet point Fire your marker and start counting seconds..if it gets to your friend before you get to 3...then the velocity is too high.

This is a pain in the ***..just by a pocket chrono.

oh yeah, don't actually shoot your friend, have him like raise a hand when he see the ball go past him.

i think you did your math wrong, if he's 300 feet away and it takes 3 seconds to get to him it's going at about 100 feet per second, not 300. and plus, raising a hand when he "sees" the paintball go by isn't going to do anything because we're dealing with minute bits of time here that most human brains just aren't fast enough for. So the best thing to do would be go buy a chronograph or have your friend shoot you in the eye.;)

it doesn't travel at 300fps the whole distance. it will prob pass him around 100 or 150psi. GOSH

LOL! awww man

be serious man, the only true way to find this out is to get access to a chrono, simple as that.

just shoot some ******* in the face..if his eye pops out..your velocity is too high...(don't actually do this ok?)
