you can, but i would not recommend painting your marker. it looks bad and doesn't last. anodizing is a very good alternative. check out the custom mods faq for some info.

SPydermans is right, paint will come off very fast and wont go on evenly unless you have an automotive sprayer. Do yourself a favor and anodize if you want to change the color
