Post what you think is the worse business decision a paintball company has ever made EXCEPT Smart Parts. Like discontinuing something very popular, making something completely that is completely useless/retarded, etc.

System X being founded ranks up there.

The JT Excellerator 6.0?
Viewloader changing the material of the revy shells? (Not their fault, new ownership)

The changing of the Revy shells sucked big time.

Ways that companies could be making more money?

Having had the autococker patented (WGP)

PMI enforcing their patent on stacked tube blowbacks.

And AGD not pushing the nitro system when it first came out.

Probably Kingman discontinuing the EM1.

By all accounts, it was a good gun, and perhaps could have elevated popular view of Kingman markers.

Rainmaker also ranks up there, with the same idea.

Worst business decision for the customer would be when a company that makes the best products, reliable, durably, and has competitive pricing, is bought out by a larger company, and takes those quality products and turns them into junk, unreliable, hand high priced non-quality controlled garbage.

JT and VL come to mind.

brass eagle turning down the chance to distribute angels.
wgp not keeping the naughty dogs on a leash.
jt not foreseeing a design flaw in the early proteus masks.

People have mentioned the changing of the material of the revvy shells, but personally I think the one before that ranks up there.

Right after BE bought VL they didn't quickly change the material but they did change the color. This caused the revvys to pick up sunlight and think there wasn't a ball and turn on. Their solution? Put a delay in the time it takes to turn on to make sure it's not the sunlight. Well, the sunlight still turned it on, just slower, and now the revvys fed much slower. So their solution? The x-board which uses a pulse signal. They don't turn on anymore, and they feed the same rate, but now even the black ones cost $5 more than they used to for the same performance. The colored ones of course cost more still. So, everyone who buys a black shelled revvy pays $5 more for the vanity of others. Of course people complained, and now they have taken off the extra $5 charge. They were able to do this by using cheaper plastic... well, we all know what that means... I have a pre-BE 12 volt that still works great. One of the best hoppers of all time, and many pros still use them. Now, they're just a cheaper way to get a motorized hopper. (I'm still convinced BE just wants to sell more eggys)

Discontinuing the Spyder Hammer.

Kingman making a new spyder every other month instead of sticking with ones that work just fine.

they were blow forward, but they were the FIRST guns with the built-in regulator. they also had a trippy back block that moved, like the cocker. The standard double trigger was extremely smooth, and they were just flat out cool lookin'.

here's a comparison of the classic mag and the Fox, taken from the site from my sig with the dark blue lettering by it.

Desert Fox: Better than an Automag?
Much faster field stripping without hose disconnects and tools
Simpler regulator with no On/Off valve
Low pressure design (360psi v. 480psi for 'Mag) increases accuracy
Rugged construction
Handles CO2 well with an Expansion Chamber
Working-side pressure gauge makes it easy to setup for chrono
Less expensive to purchase
Less expensive barrels
Comes with power-feed, 45 grip, front ASA, and a double trigger standard
Doesn't need aftermarket bolt or valve parts

Desert Fox: Worse than an Automag?
Automag has much better distribution and dealer support
Lighter to carry than Fox
Many more aftermarket parts available
More barrels available not anymore, they take standard ICD threading.
More trained technicians to do maintenance and mods
Proven tournament gun

as you can see, the mag benefits aren't really that great over the fox, except for the weight.
the site is found here (http://cognitivevent.com/icd/fox_main.html#intro).

How about 3A deciding to become a buisness in the first place?

It's not on any one company really, but when Viewloader bought up the loader business years upon years ago and there was the whole fiasco of what size to make the feed necks. Which led to the need for elbows... (well that and the angled "anti double" feed tubes caused a need for an elbow.)

Well, it doesn't help any that they get no return buisness because their customers are dead from exploding tanks.

I hafta agree with the mods on the 3A business... god I saw some dude at the field with one of them barrels. It shot exactly like the stock ones... ouch. The other thing is:

Kingman discontinued the Em1... and BE's only decent gun... the rainmaker.
