My impulse is new. I use c02 with anti siphon and my reg still gets really cold. Can someone tell me how to tell if there actually is an anti-siphon tube in my tank? I ordered it from firstcallpaintball.com and I am not sure if they actually put one in.
Also, on the bottom half of my reg( vertical ), where you adjust the pressure, there is a place where you can see in, right under where you lock the pressure adjustment in place. In there I see 2 silver things and they seem to have rust on them. Can anyone offer advice?

It's ok if the reg is cold.

i mean it was really really cold. how do you tell if there is an anti siphon tube installed? You cant really trust the people who SAID they put one in.

I don't know. The reg could have ice on it and be ok. I have an idea (if you have an on/off valve): When the tank is full, open the valve (just for a second), and hold the tank like it would be when it's in your gun. Look and see what comes out. Then, turn it upside down, and do the same thing. If more "stuff" comes out than before, then there's an anti-siphon tube installed. I think this should work?

I couldn't go that far to paintball even if I wanted to, and I've never played anything except speedball, hyperball, and sup air. (not that I wouldn't play a woods or scenario game)

what about the rust that seems to be in my reg?
ok- a few things you can do...
First- is there a marl on the valve anywhere. it is common for fokes installing anti syphon tubes to mark an "X" or "V" where the tube is located. If there is, does that mark line up at the top when you screw in the tank.
Second- Put the tank down on the table/counter in fron of you. you want it so you are looking at the rear of the tank with the vlave facing away from you. Now what you are going to be doing is slowly rolling the tank back and froth.
heres what you do. open the valve JUST A VERY LITTEL BIT. You will have a stream of gas coming out of the tank. now slowly roll the tank from side to side. as it rolls (if it is an anti syphon) the gas coming out the end will change. It should go from a white "snow/steam" look to clear. You should be able to find a spot wher it changes from snow to clear--roll a little more and it will change from clear to snow. Turn the tank so the "snow" is about the same distance rolling right and rollin left-- in other words find the point that is in the clear gas area as close as possible to between the two spots where it turns to snow.
MARK this spot. screw the tank on the gun, and see it this stop is at the top (this is where it should be)
If this spot is not at the top, the tank is not set up right and you should take it back to your dealer and have it corrected.
This has to be done on a fairly full tank. If the tank is fairly full, and when you roll the tank, you don't get a "clear" spot, most likly the anti syphon is not installed right or you simply don't have an anti syphon. Take it back and I'm sure they will correct it for you.
If you fill at a paintball store, there is a good chance the fokes at the paint ball store can shoe you haw to check where the anit-syphon is too.
FOM
On the other-- you are most likly just seing the spring. If you want to take the reg apart, you can clen it up and coat it with greese so it won't pick up rust again-- but It shoulodn't infer with the fuction as it is now.
Does your gun have double ball detents and a little window for the the eye? does it have a flinsy rubber cover on the side covering the dwell adjustment? if the answer is "yew" then you have a vision ready gun

well when your tank is empty you can hit it and feel the tube wiggle(thats how mine feels).
