Sorry bout the length of this...
I just got some new aftermarket parts for my TL Plus and was having some big problems:

In my attempt to make a low pressure gun [as i posted earlier in here] i bought an Air America Vigilante Reg., an AKA lightning bolt, AKA tornado valve, and a nitro tank.

I put the reg. on and fired the gun with the nitro tank. Everything worked fine at this point. Then i put the low pressure spring into the reg. and the valve and bolt into the gun. I test fired the gun a few times without paint. Again, everything seemed to be working fine.

The problem arose when i tried to fire paint through the gun; it was as though there wasn't enough pressure to send the paint down the barrel and the balls just rolled out the end. I tinkered with the pressure settings on the reg. with no results, all that happened was it started to vent air through what i assume is some kind of overflow check valve [the reg didn't come with a very good manual]

After realizing that it wasn't working, i took out the low pressure spring in the reg. and it was still doing the same thing. i then took out the AKA valve and put in the stock one. it still didn't work. Now i even had more problems...the bolt wouldn't even cock back, it made a noise like it was firing twice very fast and then stopped [not quite a burp like when it's out of air but something like it] The only thing i didn't try was putting the stock bolt back in.

And that's the whole story....again, sorry about the length of it. Any and all suggestions and comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is the air venting out of your regulator or near the valve? The air flow thing sounds to me like it would be because you didn't get the AKA valve in correctly. I have heard that AKA valves were made for fatty style bodies and that it is fairly iffy as to whether or not they will work in a compact.

Also, have you done a trigger job? You may also want to think about replacing the striker o-ring... Do you hear any leaks?

The air is venting out a small pin-hole on the side of the regulator. I haven't done a trigger job and the reg. leak is the only one i hear.

might it be the tank?

i don't think it's the tank...it was filling to 2000 psi and the gun was only burping if it went under 1000.

I would probably try to get ahold of AA and ask them about the reg. Then I would also check to make sure you have the valve in correctly, or try it with your old valve.
