all i can say is dont forget to put a clear coat over it after the paint dries. it will help protect it and make it look better i think

The best advice i can give you is to stripp your factory paint off the marker cause chances are if this is your first time painting it your gonna fu:censored: it up. This will allow for easier removal of the paint you just applied onto it without having to sand the bejesus out of it and possibly mess up the casting.

Other than that tape off your gun from the inside so your not getting overspray all in the innards.

Also like stated before clear coat cause no paint you apply by yourself is going to be more durrable than the factory paint.

As for a splash effect paint your marker one solid color first and then in my opinion airbrush the rest.

have fun and post pics if it turns out

and then later when it dont come out the way you wanted, you can strip it down and go for the polished look :)

Like if you put a horrid Camoish fade on it and then picked it up when the paint is still wet and end up with fingerprints all over it, then you'd have to start over and paint it bright yellow so all your buddies can see your marker more than your bright purple proteus mask!!!

But who would do that... honestly!!!

ok ok ok now it wasnt that horrid. besides you guys can have your camo gear and i will keep my bright stuff ie mask and marker im still gonna get ya. now back on topic this is why i recomend stripping all the factory black off cause mistakes happen and its easier to work with the paint you put on instead of the factory paint

You know I would;) . Seriously though, a yellow to black fade would look wicked awsome if applied right. Check out Hocky Freak's Nasty here (http://www.geocities.com/na000395/nasty.html) . Before you start painting, make sure you have a smooth surface. I recomend steel wool. Buy some at your local hardware store.

Read the stickies next time. (http://www.pbreview.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74601) Anyway, I think you should do a gree to dark green fade, so it would look something like this....

its so easy ...

the black color first on the 3/4 of the gun surface , let dry , add an other coat then add the other color on the 1/2 of the gun

it's very easy and simple

what do u guys mean by using a clear coat after u paint it?

There is a coat of clear paint that you spray on after your done. What it does is protect the paint job you just spend your hard earned money on. Or at least a long time on. Be sure to read the instruction on the back of the clear coat can. Don't spray to much to fast and don't add more until the first coat is done drying. My friend painted his 98c with model paint and came out good. The only thing he did wrong was he did give the clear coat enough time to "set" so it came off. I was planning to paint my A-5 Electron Blue to a chrome silver finish. How do you think that would look?

i used engine paint on mine, really strong and durable.

how i painted mine
1. striped the factory paint
2. used real fine sandpaper and roughed up the matal so
the primer took to it better.
3. washed it off and let it air dry.
4. put on primer
5. put on the engine paint (o yea chevy orange:P )
6. finally a clear coat.
7. let it dried for a hour or two
8. put in oven at about 150* F for a little while

Only one coat of each? You may want to specify how many coats. ;)

Platinum: Yes, just stuff the barrel full of cotton balls where the ports are so no paint gets inside.

Double post-o-rama!

Anyway, I finally have my gun painted. Except I lost my elbow and my powertube is cracked so it looks like I get to order new ones.

I did the blue-green-blue fade and it looks freaking sweet. I did the barrel and just stuffed it with cotton balls. I did get some paint on the inside front tip (oops! :P ) but that's all.

I have some pictures, but they aren't very good quality. So when my father gets home I'll take some more with his camera.

If anyone wants to see these pictures, PM me with your AIM, or just AIM me.

how long in the oven ?

Turambar
03-06-2004, 02:12 PM
I didn't bake it.

My dad has this heat lamp I set it under to dry. About 30 minutes under the heat lamp between each coat.

Two coats of primer, 3-4 coats of each color, 4 coats of clear coat.
